Porting "Sonic Robo Blast II"

There are no source code downloads available.

Ports require source code.

Unless the game's designers release the sources or port to GP32 themselves, ain't gonna happen.

Er, Sonic Robo Blast II is a doom edit, believe it or not. Pretty sure it still has a .wad file in there somewhere that's really just doom 2. I don't have much knowledge of doom or the GP32 port, but it may already be possible.

I do know for a fact that the halloween demo runs off of a doom2.wad

Wow, that's a Doom WAD?! I had no idea. I went straight to the downloads page, saw no sources, then took a fast look at some screenshots and concluded it was just some sorta closed source fan developed 3D Sonic game.

Very cool!

It's probably embedded in the exe or something... I haven't got this new version. This project has been going for like... 6 years now, and it started with a doom edit. If you check out the early releases you'll find the wads. Check SFGHQ for them. Theres a christmas release and a halloween release. I have the halloween one handy right now and I can confirm it's doom 2. The halloween version is early enough to even have the old doom menu and sounds, except you play as a buggy 3rd person sonic. Unsure of the christmas release. I'm an old veteran from the Sonic fan Game community, and I followed this project for quite awile. Its flat amazing how versatile the doom engine is.

I tried the halloween release on gpdoom v5, and it crashed. I probably did something wrong though, like I said my knowledge of doom is very very limited. I checked the latest release I had on hand, and the .wad file had been renamed to .srb.

the existing Doom port for GP32 doesn't run very smoothly as-is, so playing a fast game like Sonic Robo Blast 2 on it would kind of suck.

The game uses a modified version of the Doom Legacy engine, which allows true rooms over rooms etc.

The source code is released for Doom Legacy, but not sonic robo blast.
