Hi all,

Have done a search on creating an FPK from FXE and other files, but not much luck. Any ideas?

1) I read on a post on this forum that you can use official SDK dev tool, but if I can't find an option for it anywhere in the tool. If anyone knows how, please let me know.

2) I read on darkfaders site - To:FPK From:FXE, * Use:gppk Usage:gppk -x blaat.fpk -b blaatdirectory
This looked really promising, so I went to hitmens site and downloaded the tool. It is meant for unpacking a FPK, and the readme didn't mention creating a FPK. I tried it anyway, and all you get is a message output -> 'sorry, not yet.'

Any ideas?

After doing some more googling of the site (to get around the bl**dy 3-character search limit) I came accross mention of this:

http://www.gp32news.com/gp32news/index.php...y&id=12&lang=en

EvilDragon - are you able to add this to gp32x.de as a windows tool? :)

Its in Korean, but there is a HUGE button that says 'FPK' - just press it, and the dialog that pops up is in english. There are many feild to fill out (title, developer, version, date etc) and most have no description (e.g. is date YYYY-MM-DD or the U.S. way of YYYY-DD-MM?). But what I did is:

1) Create a folder called GPMM
2) Put all files (including subfolders) that you want to pack in this folder
3) Run the tool, press the HUGE fpk button
4) Enter the App Name, the version (there is a dot between those boxes), Title (how is this different from app. name?), the developer, the date (I used YYYY-MM-DD), and leave the target path as gp:\gpmm (the \ looks like a funny W with a slash through it).
5) Press Select folder, and browse for the GPMM folder you created in (1)
6) Now save the resulting fpk anywhere you like. It automatically gives you a breakdown of all the files in the FPK.

Can a mod please add this to the FAQ?
Cheers

The bad part about FPKs is that actually "nobody" uses USB cable+ Pc linck software.
A LOT of people are using card readers and other software so FPK are such a pain in the ass because you need to download special software to descompress.

Byes

The GOOD thing about them is that the next PDRoms coding competiton requires the game to be in either a single fxe, or a single fpk :)
and... what's so awful about it being an fxe that everyone can play,as opposed to fpk that a lot can't?

I am having problems compiling resources (like sprites etc) into my apps. Its been discussed on the discussion forums and seems to be an allignment problem that is random and I can't seem to fix no matter what I try (some things will look like they work, but they break other things).

All this means that I need an fxe and a folder for my app.

If I submit a game for the compo, it states it needs to be single fxe or fpk. Since no matter what I try it doesn't compile in a single fxe, I need to provide it as an fpk.

If I submit a game for the compo, I will also provide it for download from my site (and gp32x) as a zip that contains an fxe and a folder in the usual manner, once the compo has been awarded and therules state I can do such things (i.e. when they release all the entries to the public).

EVERYONE can play FPK's if they extract them first with Gp Package Extracter, or whatever tool you like.
