60 would be a good price, but if someone is going to mod them professional it will likely be more like 80.
but why two polls?

i voted a mere 50 bucks, as if it was done i wouldnt think there would be allot of stuff to support it, but if something like a full speed gba emu came out, i would be willing to fork out an extra few bucks... that thats just about it really....

The GP32 doesn't seem to really need it. Everything that the system is powerful enough to run seems to run fine the way it is.

The stuff that would use it like NeoGeo would be too slow anyway and have no sound so more RAM won't do much good. Stuff like BOR, Doom, Quake run fine right now with the RAM that we have.

I don't see any reason to upgrade the GP32 to 64mb (or 32mb for that matter). There are very few emulators that could use it, and most authors of emulators that could find a use for it probably wouldn't, as there wouldn't be enough people wanting it (cat and mouse?)

Also, since the firmware requires modification for > 8mb RAM, what current firmware out there supports it? I know Spiv releaseed a hacked firmware to allow it, but there are many more now in use, so which of those support it?

Slubmans Firmware supports it and all of Rlyehs upcoming emulators :)

Voted max 70$ but only if a lot of games/emu can be supported ^ ^

the mod is not hard at all with the right equipment, smt stuff is very difficault without it tho. might be worth someone investing in an smt workstation if people will pay that much for a 5 min mod :)

But why would all of Rlyehs emus need it? They seem to work fine without it.

it IS hard, 5 minuts.. you nead at least 30minutes, propably more. evything under 50$ is just unrealistic.

Eh, say he releases fSNES. You could play Super Mario World easy with default memory. But you'd need the extra mem to run some, bigger games, at all.

And I should think not all need it...

I don't think he'll release fSnes, and he's stated before that it ran much slower than OSnes9xGP, and Rlyeh isn't the man for assembly optimizations as he likes to keep his code portable.

SMT soldering isn't that difficult with the appropriate equipment. An SMT workstation is certainly not required - a fine point soldering iron (preferably temperature controlled), some soldamop, flux, solder, and a pair of tweezers normally does the trick quite well.

This is not the Overclocking mod...

5 minutes to open a GP32, remove a chip with something like 30+ legs on it, Clean the solder areas, Put new Chip on and solder, Make sure no solder bridges, close GP32 and then test it is a silly time :p

not with the right stuff! soldering smt stuff is easy with the right equipment. a 50 quid smd station would be good enough for the job. the hardest bit is prolly piggybacking the chips, but even that's not too much trouble :)

I strongly suggest for anyone to start offering the mod, I know I'd get it once I had the cash if the price was reasonable and I'm sure many others would aswell.

Craigix did post in another thread a few weeks ago that he is looking into providing a ram upgrade service.
