how much better is it than gba bigger screen, 2 speakers and more?
and if would there be enough with a 64 mb card?

can you give me some reasons why I would buy instead of gb sp

ok first off all the range of games.

There are allready world class emu's out with many on the way up.

the good emu's at the moment are

the pc engine - a "cult" console.
Atari st
Atari 800
Nes
Mastersystem.

and with news of the gp32 getting a european release this can only mean the scene is going to get bigger and more people will code for it.

which means more emulators, more programs.

in the not too distant future we are likley to see neogeo pocket emu's, megadrive emu's and possibly a fully functioning snes emu. Pray for the day!

if you bought an SP you would be dissapointed. if i was going to buy a GBA i'd buy the original. its built better.

ok I am planning to buy it on this site
http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=18423
for 190 dollars

is there some bad things with it
that gba has something gp32 does not have?

I have gba right now with some games on it
do I just buy gp32 and download a gba emu and some gba roms and transfer it with the usb cabel who is in the package when I buy it
and then drive as normal with my gba games + snes , amiga games
right?

GP32 will not play Amiga games (yet?)
GP32 will not play GBA games most likely ever.
GP32 will not play SNES games perfectly (yet?)

If I were you I would go do some more reading before you drop $200 on a GamePark 32.

Did you even both to read the FAQ? If not then you should try, it tells you exactly what the GP32 is capable of. As do the other two links I posted...

If you only want a GP32 to pirate GBA games, you will be sadly disapointed, if you are interested in tinkering with technology however, read the FAQs and then post any more questions you may have

Yes I have read it
so i can not play gba but I can play divx without sound EDIT: with sound but low frames , listen to mp3, view pictures in low resolution
and play gp32 specialy made games on it how many games would that be?
exaclty what are you using it to then?

Hello earth to Ade! Sorry but are you READING what people are saying?

Ok here's what it can do.

It can play Divx movies WITH sound and its quite good.

It can play Mp3's

It can play its own games which are very cheap and you can download them of the gamepark site.

The GP32 is an open source console, which means that people can make their own games for it, or make a program which puts other games on it, such as old PC games as long as the game in question is also open source (which means the files it was made with before release are available to use).

You can also play other console games such as snes, nes and gamegear but this requires various emulators and they are not perfect yet so some games don't run as fast as they normally would but people are making new versions all of the time, so they are improving.

So if you're wondering what we use it for, then just take a glance above.

Personally I use mine for music video's a few Mp3's and some of my favourite games from when I was younger. Sorry to sound so patronising but you've give the impression that this is the kind of answer you're looking for.

Last words of warning. If you're not patient and not willing to experiment, don't buy a GP32, they require time to get used to them and quite a bit of setting up, but don't worry too much, this forum is always here to help.

ok alright this is little strange for me I am not seeing that this thing would be better than a gb sp with flash mx card and I have read other threads in this forum about broken gp32 so I think I will have a new gb sp instead or just dvd player on batteries

thxs for the help

Ok Ade if you're still reading. The machine is a lot better than it sounds and far superior to a GBA, I sold my GBA SP to buy a GP32 and I haven't regretted it for one second. I never touched my GBA for months and I had every game at my finger tips, ok so they're all alot newer but how many really good titles are there?

With a GP32, you're getting an Mp3 player a movieplayer a games machine caple of playing games from at least ten consoles and some classic PC titles to boot. And its always customisable. Ok so you've read about people's braking but that is only when people do things wrong or install at your own risk programs, but I've never flashed my GP32's firmware and I'm as happy as any other user and I still have all the same features just in a more roundabout way.

Obviously its up to you, but buying an SP is a waste of money if you have a regular GBA, as people have said and I know from experience, they're badly made and are no different besides the light and missing a headphone socket.....another nintendo cash cow I'm afraid.

yes I am still reading but don't you think there will be a new console next year who is better?
I willl have to wait and think what I am going to do and see if there coming new models or better gba emulators

I'm not particularly disappointed to hear you've decided against buying one. From the looks of it you just want to pirate GBA games instead of buying a GBA SP, well if you had bought a GP32 I expect you'd complain of the lack of speed in SNES emulation and ask about a GBA emulator. GP32 is powerful, but not quite as powerful as you want.

There will ALWAYS be something better around the corner - It's the way of the world. However, I don't forsee any other unit allowing the user to program it in any way s/he likes!

All other handhelds (Unless, for example, you get a linker for the GBA!) do not allow you to program the unit - Only to purchase the games made for it... The linker is the exception - And mainly it's used for piracy!

I suppose you could call the Palm and PocketPC's units you could program, but not as open-endedly as the GP32.

While the GP32 might not have the range of games yet (Due to it's limited release at the moment) it does have some amazing feats not available on anything else - Like Movies (With sound) which are more that watchable, and being able to play MP3's out of the box without any add-ons (I'm not including headphones here!)

Sony will be releasing their hand-held in the future, but unless someone develops a way to crack it (See: Piracy) then I doubt Sony will allow just anyone to program games on it!

Whatever you choose, I hope you are happy with it. The GBA has bored me too much recently (Hence I got the GP32) with all the naff "kiddie" games coming out - Sorry, but I DO NOT LIKE Pokemon!... So the GP32 was a god-send... Did someone say portable "Matrix"??? ;) And it's soundtrack!

As the GP32 will be released soon outside Korea, we should see the "scene" pick up - Hopefully with some major companies making some more "pro" games for it... But that may be too long a wait for you.

yes I know for the most I BUYING my games beacuase there is much funnier to have manual and real things but sometimes I download the games
and sometimes I am downloading them insted of demos if they are very good am I buying them
anyway isn't snes emu and other emulators piracy to? you do need a snes game rom to play them or?

and i thought gba was enough powerfull for me so if this would be stronger this should be perfect for me but the stupid is that I can't play my gba games that I have bought for expensive money
and if I buy this I would have to buy more games

so I will wait and see if there is coming something that make buy this thing

Uh...you don't have to buy more games. A lot of people play SNES, NES and Master System games, for example, or play MP3s and don't have to pay for anything extra after buying the GP32.

On the other hand, the commercial games are cheap, roughly £5-£8 for most of them.

hmm ok now I have tried an emulator with some games of gp32 and it does not look soo stupid anyway :D
but do they have same quality as nintendo example can you drop it 3 times without any broken things or so?
and what is enough memory 64 mb or 128 or can I have many small cards?

 :D

I got 120 master system games on a 64mb card, along with Doom 2 and Gloop.

On my 128mb card I have about 30 pc engine/turbografx 16 games, 40 nes games, Doom 1, Wolfenstein 3D, 15 Atari ST games, 150 Atari 2600 games, 3 SNES games, and some porn jpegs.
