hi, i just got my laptop set up for wireless today and i tried my psp with the tenchi browser and it actually worked but the browser is all in japanese, what is the best browser to use? i downloaded one so far but when i opened it it was just an .exe file, and just made a psp sized window pop up on my desktop. so what browser is the best and where can i get it? cheers

unless you upgrade to v2 fw the techi browser is the only one worth using.

read the readmes accompanying the files, you need to edit the index.html file in order to use it properly. see my thread on the browser from a month or so back in this section of the forums.

I've upgraded to 2.0 and the browser is pretty neat but I have a few questions if anyone is in the know.

1. Why do I persistently recieve errors when trying to download anything from anywhere...the transfer window pops up and it tells me that the download failed before a single byte is grabbed.

2. What is meant by 'not enough memory' does it mean Ram, Cache? it seems possible that msn web messenger would run through java script if only there was enough memory. Bug or PSP hardware limitation?

Any help would be great.

im worried about upgrading and not being able to run homebrew and emulators though, i seen something on psparchive.de that apparently still lets you run this stuff even with firmware above 1.50. has anyone tried this? cheers. so far though im quite impressed with lookin on the net with my psp, it beats reading an old magazine while im on the lav.

i dont think its possible to download anythin from online to your psp is it? i tried a few links to downloads through tenchi and just dont work.

no you haven't

there is currently no way to run homebrew on anything higher than 1.5

WRONG! - well sort of. Someone managed to get something to start (but crashes soon after) in 2.0 by fooling the PSP into thinking its an update, I've tried it and it doesn't do much, basically it just proves that you can bypass the code that signs any unauthorised code as corrupted. It's the first thing to finally give hackers the possibilty to maybe find a new exploit.

I always find that beyond the novelty value, I dont end up using any type of portable browser more than a few times. Nobody has yet come up with anything that has enough usability or displays the sites well enough...

twimfy, so you upgraded to ver.2.0? dont you use any emulators on your psp then? id like to upgrade but id rather have emulation i think.

I have a GP32, a dreamcast a laptop 2 PC's and the console and actual game of every emulation I want to play (aside from the metal slug series). I'm really not bothered about not being able to emulate on the PSP.

I did try out emulation as soon as I got it and then ten minutes in I was bored. The net browser I have not stopped using.

The only thing I regret is the fact that I can't use homebrew apps, you would have at least thought sony would have included some kind of organiser but I guess that it was an image they were trying to avoid.

i've only downloaded music and pictures from my PSP and it worked fine. I guess if your downloading exe files or something the PSP cannot run it would not work.

As for the out of memory thing. I only get this after spending some time on the internet. Just delete the cache, delete the history, delete everything but the cookies and you'll be good.

Yeah I find a clear cache and a refesh sorts the problem.

I was tring to download Mp3's they work from some sites but not others and I know those sites to be working perfectly. A few pictures have failed as well, at first I thought it was the file name, but even changing that did nothing.

Cheers for the link scazw I've been looking for a messenger client compatible with 2.00.

sony may of not made it perfect for obvious reasons! such as an excuse so they can make a billion more firmwares... i think so...

does the official browser work any better than the tenchi one twimfy?

I never tried the tenchi one, but I have no faults with this browser, now that I have an msn client for it its really useful.
