Does anyone know if the 2X will support subtitles in MPEG4 (xvid, divx) file playback? I am not familiar with the media player it uses, thanks in advance.

Mplayer for linux supports loading external subtitle files through the gui, but if gph havnt put an option in the gui to load subtitles then subtitles wont be loaded. Alternatively I think that mplayer autoloads subtitle files with correct fileames but whether this will be in the gp2xs version, i dont know

It does. All you have to do is make sure it's in the same directory as the video file. I see no reason why GPH would remove this functionality, so I think it's safe to assume that this will be in the GP2X version. As for loading subtitles from a gui, maybe, maybe not. It depends on how much of a gui is used on the GP2X. MPlayer can be run from the command line without a gui, so they may have gone that route with the version on the GP2X.
