I've tryed AVI and some other films on the GP2X and it don't do anything they don't even appear tryed the Quake and that don't load the only thing I can do is play MP3 but then only with my Kingston 256 SD card, the Viking 1gig ones don't seem to work at all.

please help me I don't know what the hell I'm doing the instructions are no good, what file types can it understand and why are my Viking 1 gig SD cards not even working with MP3?.

I noticed some people on here have already changed the icons and background how do you do that?.

video should run the same as if you are selecting an mp3, but through the video section...

avi's should show up in the file list (make sure you're selecting sd card not nand)

if its an avi thats not supported it should tell you..

when my batteries where running low it would get to the loading screen then crash.

do you mean you can't even see the avi's in the file list to select them?

with quake you should be able to launch the .gpe file through 'game' section

I noticed some people on here have already changed the icons and background how do you do that?.

i'd worry about getting it to work first ;)

the AVI is Versus well half of it for GP32 I can see it the explorer bit but it don't show up in the video player section I don't really have anything to test with it other then that.

As for Quake I've been reading another thread about it where do I get a Pak file from for it?.

Has anyone else been having problems with 1 gig SD cards? I have two Viking ones from Ebuyer they both do the same thing which is nothing, the MP3's are on them but when you hit play you just get the play bar sitting there in blue with no song/file name above it and it don't play anything, shove the 256 SD card in with the same MP3's and it works perfectly, thats with two 1 gig SD cards and two GP2X's it's the same everytime.

(I'm not piemaster I'm his fiance we got a GP2X each)

theres people on here saying they have 1 gig cards and Craig sells em why sell something that don't work? I heard it was 2 gig cards that didn't work not 1 gig aswell.

piemaster, make sure the SD cards are formatted correctly. If you had them in a camera or something they could be in a different format.

About the 1 GB SD cards not working, make sure they're formatted as Fat32, not NTFS. To do that, go to My Computer, right click your SD card (with it plugged in of course ^ _ ^) and click "Format".

Select "FAT" or "FAT32" or "FAT16", whichever comes up. Then format.

Add your files and try again.

Those who with USB connection problems, why don't you just shell out $6~7 and get a SD reader instead? Current firmware supports only 1.1, and that alone is the reason enough to get the reader, IMO.

Thanks for all the help/replies (I've just registered myself now instead of using my fiances account).

I'll go and format em I didn't think of that as I didn't format the 256 one,

has anyone got any links to films I can download to test it like a trailler for Advent Children or something in the currect file format? or a link for the Pak file thing to make quake work?.

I know it's early days but what exactly do people know about the Linux version the machine uses? how compatible is it with things like Mandriva and the like can/ could you in the near future make/convert games and the like from Linux based OS to GP2X without a dev kit?.

Damn I've got a lot of digging about in the games pile to do then, I know I have Quakes 1, 2 and 3 around somewhere.

I am also unable to get any video to show up in the video player - although I can see it in the explorer :(

I've re-fromatted the card as suggested but to no avail.

I really want to play a DivX.

Incidentally the card is a 'Integral 1gb' card that came with the GP2X - and my unit keeps freezing ( i guess when accessing the card ) and sometimes doesn't even see the card.

Any pointers anyone??

Cheers

The video player is unstable as hell from when I've been using it. You can get up to a minute of playback then it crashes and afterwards the video will crash after just a few seconds

A lot of people with the same video player problems said that changing to fresh batteries helped. The ones that came with it apparently are dreadful.
