I can't get the snes alpha emulator working for my gp2x (yes, I finally got it :D pictures will be up on my site very soon). I put the emulator in /emu/snes/ and the rom as /emu/snes/top.smc . Sometimes the screen just blanks out indefinitely and freezes, sometimes the screen blanks out and returns to the main menu; but it always turns black like it's doing something.

I've got SDL libraries installed (if they're needed), as LinesX and co. work fine (and are fun, thanks :D ). I also installed the libraries from the .gpu script that came with the snes emu. All this to no avail.

If anyone can tell me their *exact* setup or exactly what the did to get the snes emu working, that would be awesome. I looked around here, but feel free to yell and point me to an obvious thread that would tell me how to get it working.

Thanks in advance guys, I love my gp2x so far!

current snes emu is alpha test version. so it's unstable and don't support all roms.
copy files in root folder and try other roms ;) (rename to top.smc)
tales of phansia(yeah its top) runs, and 4th srw is perfect with sound.

Also it only supports one rom at a time, since it has to be named "top.smc" Probably meant to be a variable to fill in until the emulator is a bit more developed further along. Don't know where the romfile or the executable file go, but This is just what I recall from other posts.

Most roms i've tried do actually work, but very slow....

so if you're just getting a black screen (after waiting a while...some takes some time to boot) check your batteries.

and i'm not sure if the emu and top.smc files must be in the root, that's where i've got mine and it works.

i think if you are returned to the main menu then it probably couldn't find top.smc.

tested that i know at least boot:

chrono trigger
mario world
mario kart
starfox
megaman 7
tales of phantasia

Note: You can put the emulator anywhere you like, only the rom needs to be in the root directory.
