As I understand it there's supposed to be a TV out on the GP2X. I'm lead to believe that the cable doesn't come with the unit. The FAQ says it can be bought seperately, but there's no mention of where you can buy one or how they work etc.

What's the deal with that? I take it it's a case of "it'll be out sooner or later" which I can live with, but, y'know...

What kind of connection is there at the GP2X end? I understand it's S-Video at the TV end, right?

It plugs into the ext port at the bottom of your GP2X and has a svideo output and seperate audio. It is pretty short though (~20cm) thus you will probably need an extra svideo cable.

is it possible to make one with parts from RS maplin etc?....the audio plugs, and the s video mini din are no problem, i suppose its just getting the connector that fits the gp2x that would be the main prob. i dont have my gp2x yet so i dont even know what the connector looks like.

The company i work for makes cable assemblies so im sure ill be able to knock one up :)...ill be looking into this once i get my gp2x

Does anyone know how to convert from s-video to normal composite? I only ask because honestly I only have access to one tv that has s-video and I'd love to be able to use this with more than just that tv. Thanks in advance if I get any replies to this.

You should be able to find S-Video -> Composite adapters at an electronics store, but I don't know enough about them to recommend a specific brand.

Ok, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the TV-Out video mode doesnt actually work as promised at the moment due to the software and the speed of SD card the unit is capable of using?

Maybe this is why GPH haven't supplied the TV-Out cable yet...

This is just speculation, no need for flaming please, I'd just like to confirm whether it is true that TV-Out video at 720x480 actually works or not.

That's not a TV-Out cable, that's an ext-port connector.

oh.. i thought the tv out cable was supposedly going to run through the ext port?

gph site

My mistake, I think, it doesn't mention anything about tv-out on toyz 4 boys from my quick look anyway. I think you're right tho, apologies for my assumption.

no sweat, i was working on the reasoning that the connector from toyz 4 boyz had a full pin set and would allow you to build a tv-out lead with the correct leads and a clue of which wire where

Yup, that seems to make sense.

What I really want to know though, is it true that currently you actually can't play movies at 720x480 using the TV-out, if you do have a cable. I'm pretty sure I read that this doesn't work, which I'm sure if people did have TV-Out cables would be quite an issue :p
