I have an interesting issue with Nk's Snes emu.

The new one with the asm core is twice as fast thats AWSOME. Neither of these emu's allows me to save my games. The only way i can get a save game to stick is if i save it... exit my emu and reload the rom / load the game now the save game will stay.

I want to be able to save my game then exit to the main screen / turn off the unit.
every time i do this the game does not save.

Any tips?

Keep up the good work Nk your project is the reason i own a gp2x!

please define "main screen".
I think that you have to exit to the firmware menu for it to save.... the saves work for me in chrono trigger....

The main screen i was regerring to the firmware screen where it says movies etc.

after im at the firmware screen i shut off the gp2x. reboot and the snes emu will be at the game before it started.

I think its either a kingston crappy SD card issue OR.... emu related
i have to load the emu up again and load the save game for it to save proper before i shut it off.

also to be noted... im using the version of firmware that came with the machine.
i ran the patch.gpe but the firmware didnt do its update upon booting ... i have one of the crappy SD cards a kingston 256.

You need to run 'sync' or somthing for flushing your cache.

Without running it, your save file might just store in cache memory and it will gone when you just turn off your machine.

If you make a script for running your emu and sync, it will be fine.

??

I don`t get it, are you talking about savestates or normal saves?
I thought savestates weren`t implemented yet (I did not try the new version yet).
Do normal saves work?

I was wondering that too. I didn't get far enough in any of the rpg's I've tried to get to a saving point so I don't really know.

It definitely supports SRM saving - although I haven't really used it as yet. But it's creating .srm files when a rom is loaded for sure. Certainly it made one for Donkey Kong Country when I was testing it out (although seeing as I hadn't actually saved in game, I don't actually *know* it was a valid file - but I doubt it'd be created it it wasn't!)

So um... could anyone paste in a script that would run the emu then sync? I understand the idea, of course, but I'm not certain of the syntax. I presume, after all, that this is probably one of those problems that people haven't run into yet simply because they aren't playing to save-points for now, but that will become more prevalent as time goes on.

Can u exit the emu without turnig off your unit i thought i had to turn of the power every time i loaded a new game. but anyway my zelda link to the past saves work fine but overs dont work at all do u know what thats all about?

you can exit to the rom selector by pressing in the control stick and then pressing "r" while still pressing down the control stick. From there you can press start to exit to the firmware.

Well.. it might be looks like this:

--------------start--------------

#!/bin/sh

nesgp2x.gpe
sync

--------------end---------------

I haven't check it on real gp2x yet (I'm at work now), but hope it works

OK, normal saves work i am using NORMAL saves. i save ... its good.... i exit to firmware screen with joystick button + right shoulderbutton.

now i power off and i start snes again and ff6 does NOT have my save file.

HOWEVER if i save my game, exit to firmware with shoulder again and THEN load the snes right away and load my game again it WILL verify / save my game.

I think buddies recomendation of the sync is in order but i dont know how to do that on my gp2x. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Let us know if that script works id love to be able to just save and exit my game and know that it was saved. ... this unit is so awsome i wish i could just iron out a few things like this save issue.

Someone was suggesting making a script that sync'd the sd card with the machine / emu is that still in the works or was that an empty promise?
