video files arnt showing up in the video player file selector and i know that their on the card because they show up in the gp2x's file explorer I have tried nearly all the formats that the gp2x should suport but none work........THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Are you sure they are in the right format? With the current firmware, the gp2x only correctly supports .avi files with divx encoding.

i encoded mine with autogk and they seem to be working fine (well, except for when i try to pause, fastforward, or rewind.....)

Im going to try that out tomarrow.

Im not on my laptop w/ the SD card port...and the fact that im tired as hell.

On that autogk you can set the size to the normal 320x240, right? *hopes*

Every .avi I've thrown at it so far (from 600MB DIVX DVD copies to XVID cartoon rips) have all worked quite well! I'm quite happy with the video playback so I don't understand what everybody's talking about the XVID not working or having to reencode them, only reason I could see for that is to get more movies per card going.

I have firmware 1.0.1 though so that may affect how stuff plays, I'm not sure...

Yeah, me too. Other than the interlacing, I haven't had any problems with my XviD files.

does anybody know of an alternative video viewer coming out ?
i tried the mpeg encoded with divx or whatever and i've tried avi and avi encoded with divx and all that but the files still dont show up!! its just not fair!!!

I had no problems at all with the video player. The only negative experience I had, was with a dvd divx rip (600 MB) on a slow Sandisk SD card. The movie crashed, but when I used a faster Kingston SD card it worked without any problems.

xvid doesn't work for me.... i have version 1.0 (my SD card isn't supported for updates :( ) All of my anime is encoded in xvid and I had to reencode to divx because the video ran about 5 times faster than it should have while the audio ran at a normal speed. Now the only problem I have is that the start, stop, pause, fastforward, and rewind buttons act very strangely.....

what do u think gamepark holdings will say if i e-mail them is there any thing they can do or is there no point.

will the problem go if i upgrade the firmware or whatever and how do i do that....?

you can try e-mailing them, but there is a rather large language barrier, so i'm not sure how well they'll understand...
