1. What will I gain by flashing the firmware?
2. How dangerous is flashing the firmware?
3. How do I go about flashing the firmware, and doing anything else that must be done beforehand/afterward?
4. How full speed is the PSX emulator? Can it do 3D, etc...

Worry about flashing after you get one, its worth your time if you like, homebrew, emulation, and crazy prorgams at hand for a crap ton cheaper than a psp. Psx emu is still a rather early beta but it plays some games (maybe just one) at 55+ fps. 3d, not so much speed for now. It could really speed up if someone writes a second core fpu. Flashing isn't hard with caution.

While this is a question thread, i have some too.
Hoe goes TV-Out atm? Can you just connect your gp2x with the cable to the TV and it shows everything? Isn't it much more "pixelized" because its on a much bigger screen? How goes playing on TV?

and..
how good is neogeo and snes at the moment? sound? nes, well i can play that on my beloved gp32 already in fullspeed... ah yes, is snes faster on gp2x than on gp32?

Are you suggesting I stay clear of flashing the firmware, or the GP2X itself?

I think he only suggests to wait until the official release in January if you are insecure about what you do..

About the TV-Out : As far as I know is a scaling chip included, so if youve got a TV-size (720x) video on your gp2x it will play scaled down on your gp2x screen but in full quality on your tv monitor ....
