I wonder if we will see Namco System One running under Mame on the Gp2x, splatter house and galaga etc ...

What do you guys think ....

geeez splatterhouse arcade version is the dogs bollocks , i checked the compatability list and it does not play it yet , grrrrrr

i'd love to see the namco galaga system emulated with mame... some good games on there... ahh, dig-dug.

Galaga '88 and probably most of the System 1 games were added to MAME in version 0.36, so don't count on them appearing on your GP2X any time soon...

actually it was galaga 88 on Namco system 1

hmmm its a 16bit machine with

* Main CPU: Motorola 6809 @ 1.536 MHz
* Sub CPU: Motorola 6809 @ 1.536 MHz
* Sound CPU: Motorola 6809 @ 1.536 MHz
* MCU: Hitachi HD63701 @ 1.536 MHz
GP2x could deffenently handle that. Hopefully Mike Dawson or Franxis will implement it.

Yeah I'd like to see MAME 0.36 ported over, having a heck of a time finding roms for 0.34, guess since it was so long ago. I've found 0.36 roms because all of the pocket PC ports are 0.36, but only some of the roms are the same between the two versions.

Try to rebuild 0.34 compatible roms from your 0.36 with ClearMamePro.
Francis kindly included the romset data in his mame binary archive.

You can use cmpro.exe even on linux with wine. (and GoodRoms tools also)

I just build my own romsets on the FC4 from decent mame set, and I've successed to get 870 out of 1025. (well, GP2x mame v1.0 only support 904 roms of 1025 though :) )

I believe it's only 541 if you take out the clones too (totalling 136.5MB, since it's generally the bigger games which are not in this version). I really hope to see a port of a later version too, 0.36 would be great :)

I managed to get all the roms for the 0.34 build that we have (I believe it's a custom build because it has some NEOGEO games that weren't part of regular MAME). I found my old archival copy of .33, and downloaded the .36 version mentioned earlier, and used CLRMAMEPRO to rebuild it from those two romsets. I came up a few short and I found the rest on alt.binaries.emulators.mame, I guess someone just posted a bunch of 0.34 roms specifically for the gp2x. Now my CLRMAMEPRO checker comes up 100% complete. It's a little under a gig in case you were wondering.

I'm curious if anyone knows if this version uses samples, I found a bunch of them and put them in the samples subdirectory but can't tell if they are being used or not.

Yeah, my big problem is that I have a complete .102 romset, but I can't rebuild it into a perfect romset for gp2xmame because of the missing files now :angry: :(

I might be able to put up a torrent of my romset that's complete if anyone's interested.

That would be much appreciated, and would save a lot of digging around to get a full set. :D

I would be interested in downloading your complete set as well. Let me know if you do put up a torrent.

OK I created a torrent, but not sure if that's something I should post here, send me a message or an email at mralphabet at yahoo.com and I'll let you know the particulars.
