I just found out that after the 1.2 upgrade none of my videos play back correctly.

I thought I did. It doesn't help that the patch doesn't want to unzip with 7-zip which is what I use. It says 1.2 in the system info but not on the boot screen. And no readme included in the main zip. I had to use windows compression utility just to unzip it.

I don't think you need to extract the patch at all - just put the .gpu and te .tar.gz on your SD card and run the GPU from the utility menu.

Also I was not using anything besides the default skin to begin with. I read that before I made this post.

Well, what you've done now is not upgraded the firmware before installing the patch. If it says something like 1.1.0 on the boot screen, that's the firmware you have. System info contains the version of the installed patch. In order to get your system back to 1.1.0 then 1.2.0, do the following:

1) Download firmware version 1.1.0 if you haven't already.
2) Take all the files from the zip except for the .img files and put them on the root of your SD.
3) Insert the SD into your GP2X, then boot. Run the patch. Switch off your GP2X.
4) Delete the patch files off your SD.
5) Get the 1.2.0 firmware. Take all the files from the zip (including the .img files this time) and put them on to the root of your SD card.
6) Insert your SD card into the GP2X and boot. After the black 'GP2X' screen appears, 'Firmware Upgrading' should come up on your screen. If it does not, DO NOT run the patch, either use a different SD card or wait for a utility that allows you to flash when your GP2X is booted.
7) If the 'Firmware Upgrade' screen appeared when booting, go to the Utilities menu and run the patch.
8) You're done, you can delete the remaining patch files from your SD.

Do exactly what everyone else here is telling you. The firmware will upgrade when you boot with the SD card inserted. This will load the firmware and reboot the system. The green screen will now show version 1.2.0. Now go to the utility menu and run the .gpu file. Do not extract the files inside the .tar.gz file before hand, the .gpu script will take care of everything for you (including displaying a neat little upgrade screen. The utility is what will update the version number in the setting screen. The firmware update alone will not change the version number in the setting screen and will not update your applications. All the firmware update does is update the Linux kernel.

Well then, get a working card. I guess its your only option for now.

Anyway, video playback is fine for me.

I have a different problem. My playback is suddenly out of sync.
Only about half a second, but still enough to notice.

It was ok before...

My playback was fine before the update, now its out of sync.....really annoying.

I'm experiencing the same sync problem --- videos that worked perfectly before are now out of sync for no apparent reason.

Is there anything we can do to stop this, or is it just a case of waiting for firmware to be updated again?
