For Anyone Who Cares...

i remember yoyofr talked about some tricks he implemented in the PSP-version, to speed up the square rpg's like FF3.
there where some color pallette hacks you could set in the menu and gave some speed increase.
also i remember, he talked about something he found out between the 0.1 and 0.2 release. and FF3 became playable in the 0.2 version.
You look at his release log, there's:
PPU optimisation (FF6 is playable now)
Don't know what that is. He also mentions a Mode 7 hack. Maybe Squidge should contact him about it.

Nickspoon: The PPU is the graphics controller, I think. Pixel Plotting Unit or something. He might have just changed it to ASM D: I know I've heard PPU before... it was when I was reading up on the NES graphics chip, so that's probably it.

I think we WILL have fullspeed SNES, if the 2D Accelerator is implemented for the raster effects rather than software rendering. There's probably everything the SNES had in the MagicEyes chip. Maybe. Maybe then the transparencies and other fancy SNES effects wouldn't reduce the FPS.

The MagicEyes chip does have lots of 2D effects, right? Right? ._.;; Or am I placing too much faith in it, and most of the work will have to be done by the first CPU?

Also, on reading some of the things people had to say about the second CPU, much, much later on maybe the SuperFX chip could be offloaded there too? People seem to like the idea of putting a 3D engine there o.o.

</uneducated speculation>

Hi,

With reference to the latest version, which seems quite a big leap :)

All games that I've tried seem very playable, some with sound and other with disabled sound. A few wishes for the next version.

Save state to be included, a must for the rpg's
Volume control, as would be great to turn the volume down a little
Graphical transparancies, so you can see the rain in Zelda and correct other graphic errors.

But overall its brilliant :D

Im pretty sure that sound, transparencies and savestates will happen in the near future, just give him time :)

just remember how long it took from the release of the gp32 to the os9xgp release! about 2 years i think!

yep, also with the zodiac which is 200Mhz sinlge processor is nearly there. theres plenty of mhz and a spare proc to boot with the gp2x :)

I'm going to donate something like 5€ to Squidge. It's not much, but if everyone who uses the emulator did the same he'd be in for some decent money. ;)

So it's a "buyable" emu, or is it that donators get beta versions?
Donators get beta versions. Making it "buyable" would be against the ethos of the project and probably illegal.

i was refering to the sig
**Donated to reesy for the amazing drmd**
right, I donated to reesy. what's your point?

Im donating to squidge in the next 2 weeks or so. Im broke now. I was wondering when the release to the public would be.

My point isnt a point; and i didnt like how others posts/points were being made into making the emulator buyable and how its today and squides emulator hasnt got past his testers,

its getting a bit to hot in here for me.

Seems like squidge is about to steal reesy's crown. Reesy had better get started on an amiga emulator to try and reclaim it :D

Well lets not get too carried away yet. If this ever runs full speed with full sound including the DSP at 200 MHz then maybe you could say that.

ok w/e. you quoted my sig like you were hinting at something. And i never said anything about the emu being 'buyable'.
