Couple Of Gp2x Gph Updates

Well, since your just linking to promote your site, Ill post the news here:

New Official English GP2X website

Good news for GP2X users. According to a post by the admin of www.gp2x.com, the new updated English official GP2X will be up and running in a few days. Keep checking it out at www.gp2x.com. We hope this launch goes smoothly, the old site is out of date and in need of spicing up!

The admin also replied to a post about the dissapointment some users have in the GP2X joystick. It seems that Game Park are planning on possibly replacing the old joystick for a new design. We'll keep you updated...

and now they see the problems with the joistick?
=\ the idea is good, but who has now the gp2x?
Destroy the his gp2x, and buy another with a new joistick?
Good, very good.

wait.. a new cap? or new joystick unit? or did they not say?

if craigix is reading this.. if it's a new unit, would it be possible for them to send a big batch to you guys? and then you could possibly replace the current one on the units already bought if they were sent back, or something..

I'd gladly pay up to €50 for a joystick replacement. I don't see how they could afford doing that though. It's probably just the joystick cap that they're talking about. Hopefully we'll find out more once the new site is up.

I wonder if they'll sell the new stick or just put it on future GP2X's. I think it would be cheaper to go to a used game store and get a dead madcatz controller. I haven't tried the DI or Salvatoin Army store since I've gotten mine, but maybe they have some controllers.

Thanx,
Stan

The "someone posted on GP2x" was my post (customer suggestion 2070) ;) :

"The joystick on the GP2x is not good. Can we have D-Pads instead please, like on the Nintendo? The central button on the joystick currently can always be sited with a micro button somewhere else on the GP2x.

If this isn't possible, how about a better joystick; one which is better designed for up/down/left/right rather than a bias towards diagonals?

How about a better joystick cap, ie one where your thumb doesn't keep sliding off."

Admin's reply was:

"it is actually Dpad.
but it is not designed well.
We are planning to make and sell or give better one for replacement"
:D

I agree with Toxic's reply on GP2x site:

"A new dpad? Wow, that sounds great... actually the
old dpad was my only convern in regards of buying a
gp2x... as soon as this replacement is available, I
think I'll buy a gp2x :)"

Craigx - any idea when this new joystick might be available for sale on new Gp2x units? Is this one of the improvements we are awaiting in the "final" release in March(ish) being discussed (if so, this is the time to buy!) B)

I think this "new stick" is just a new cap design. If they stole the design from me it will be a good design :p . If they come up with some other weird one who knows. I do know that the plastic they use won't be as durable as mine. The plastic I use is actually quite expensive as far as plastics go.
