Ok so I got my GP2X and today I bought a 1 GB SD memory card for it, so when I connected the thing up to my computer with a USB cord the computer recognized the hardware, said it was installed and ready to be used. So when I went to My Computer to click the drive it continually says I need to insert a disc. I figured I could would be accessing it from the Removable Disc drive (J) and that didn't work, so then I tried SD/MMC drive (I) and I got the same problem. Then again with everything else.

Is there a disc I was supposed to install to activate these drives or WTF is the problem?

i think you need to use a USB 1.0 drive, its not just you, its a common problem, the drivers GPH put for the usb suck or somesuch like that..best to buy a cheap SD card reader

FUCK I do not want to spend more money on this, it's almost getting ridiculous. $200 for the system, $80 for an SD card, and now more on an SD reader? There has to be another way.

If you got it from gbax they offer a free flash reader if you have problems getting it to work through usb.

Isn't there some option in the settings menu that you need to start to enable a USB connection? I have never attempted a USB connection with it as I have a card reader built into my laptop. Card readers are relatively cheap these days.

It's barely $10. Or you could wait till GPH get a firmware that does the USB transfer properly.

The ways I know of getting the USB support to work (different ways work for different people)

1) Try USBMon, it's something GPH say works for some people. It's a USB monitoring application, but apparently it causes the drivers to sometimes work.

2) Try and make your computer degrade your usb ports to 1.1 standard. Sometimes this can be done in bios, sometimes you can do in windows via the hardware manager.

3) Purchase an el'cheapo USB1.1 hub and plug the 2X into that.

4) Buy a card reader.

5) Wait for GPH to get there act together *

6) Send the 2X back as "not fit for purpose" and buy something else...

* - these methods may take a long time
