Hi

Asking questions about things while I await my GP2x, things that sound reasonably important.

I'd like to know what reasons people have had for overclocking, and what the best way to do it has been?

thanks to you all

camo

I can get mine up to 266 ok, it makes the snes and mame games run much smoother..

Stuff like the Genesis emu and atari emu don't need it, but it adds an extra bit of performance for the more advanced emulators

At the moment the only way to do it is the cpu speed tool, though some emus will no doubt have built in options soon.

AUHAHUAHUAHAUAHU =D
TRUE, the batteries die, you can buy a POWER SUPPLY GREAT how a room ahahaahah =D
Or NUCLEARS BATTERIES.

hmm i can get mine all the way up to 275mhz stabaly oh well i use it for snes and neogeo cd emu oo and quake sometime if im in a picky mood

I can only overclock my '2x when I'm using a power adaptor, and even then only to about 249MHz --- anything higher just crashes it. I mainly overclock for drmdx to play everything at the full 60fps with sound, or to squeeze a extra couple fps in for quake. .

when i start my overclocker it says my processor is running at 199mhz not 200.

also i cannot go about 250 without crashing.

do i have the ginger haired step-son of the magic eyes family?

Sounds like you and I are in the same situation, deepmenace --- sucks, don't it? <_<

when i start the tool it says im at 198-199 too, and not 200mhz...i never thought much of it...anyone know why? havnt tried overclocling yet..ill do it now.

but...when i last used that tool, nothing would SAVE, as soon as i exited the tool, the changes i made which made the screen change where no longer there...how do i get it to save the changes???

I can overclock ROCK SOLID to 300Mhz ROCK SOLID!!!!! B) B) B)
I have a lucky GP2X!!! :D

Yeah, and its not really anything to worry about. Most proccesor speeds will vary a little from cpu to cpu. I usually see a various of about +-2mhz in most Intel and AMD CPUs so it makes sence that the ARM proccesor would be the same way.
