Uae4all Amiga Emulator Port To Gp2x

I wonder if we'll see compatibility issues with Cyclone ... if so, would we be able to roll back to the 'existing' engine within the same build?

yeah, it's just a flag passed to the build. it'd be released with two executables, much like MAME'S release style.

Hey critical, congrats on your new, deserved status :)
Oh... that's nice. I'd read this forum earlier, but from my mobile with images off and didn't notice. Having checked the forums now I'm back home, I discovered that you were the culprit for setting that off, so thank you and the rest of the merry band of people here :)

I wonder if I can get it changed to a scaled-down version of this:

Anyway, I do appreciate people's feedback and words of encouragement. Hope to get stuck into the Cyclone integration task again tomorrow.

OH... that would be an excellent custom Guru image :)

Yeah I'm still enjoying the fruits of the hard work you put into this emulator... and I am pleasantly surprised at how well it currently works.... I can't wait for Cyclone... but I guess I'll have to. ;)

Thanks for all your work critical, I am very nostalgic about my good old A500, cyclone integration (fingers crossed) will bring back a lot of priceless memories for me :)

If there is a way for you to accept donations, please let me know :)

oh yesh the old software failure box GAH memories, anywho congratz guru, got some money together so might be putting an order in for a gp2x soon. Anyone tried Wings by the way? that was an ace little game, and did anyone every bloody finish it? i never did and played it to ages?

There's always paypal if you want... alister [at] criticalhippo.co.uk is my account.

To those wondering about progress... yes, I've been working on other things in my lunch hour, because it's not long enough to properly get stuck into sorting out the issues with the integration. However, I'm going to spend tomorrow evening on it, which should hopefully be more productive.

law: Wings does work - I just tried it. It needs overclocking to be playable, I'd say, but I wasn't ever very good at it anyway :)

well done that critical, i thought it would seriously struggle on the 3d bit. Was that one of first games that need 1mb or is that a complete lie.

Keep up the top work critical!

Not knowing much about the Amiga what is this cyclone that keeps getting mentioned. peice of amiga hardware that you are trying to emulate ? chip ? or something else.

Cyclone is a 68000 core (one of the Amiga chips) in ARM assembly. It's incredibly zippy compared to pretty much everything, but does still seem to have one or two bugs, and cuts corners in places that Amiga emulation sometimes doesn't seem to like - so it'll be very impressive if and when Critical manages to plug it in :D

In this context, it's an emulation of the Amiga's 68000 CPU that's written in assembler for ARM processors (like the GP2X's) to be significantly faster than an equivalent written in C. If I ever get it working, it'll make for smoother emulation with less need for overclocking.

Ah Cool :)

Im quite interested in various processors old and new, hoping to learn some basic electronics and learn some assembly for the really old chips used in the old ataris etc sounds like it could be fun :)

But its gona be a steep learnign curve :(

The easiest way to learn how to code for the old chips is to buy some old programming manuals off ebay for the spectrum etc. there are also a lot for the 68000 (although i found them more geared towards engineers than home game hackers).

Or just get the spectrum user manual and turn to the back where you will find the entire z80 instruction set and the corrisponding code, write your own assembler ;)
