I've updated BasiliskII. The mac should now have 320x240 (for gp2x screen) and 720x480 (for tvout) resolutions. Please test it out.
binary

How's the speed on this thing? I remember going through a long drawn out MacOS8 installation a few years back on basiliskii and don't feel like reliving it anytime soon to test this out.

According to speedometer 3.2, basiliskII on GP2x is twice the speed of a MacII (which was at 12MHz) (at 233MHz GP2X) . You should actually install on a pc or mac version of basiliskII and then move the hfv file over. on a 1 ghz celeron, BasiliskII is faster than a quadra 950and thats the fastest 68k Mac.
No point trying with system 6 as thats 1bit screen which SDL on GP2X cant handle yet.
if you run on GP2X you should put a statement "screen win/320/240" in b2xprefs.txt
if you use tvout "screen win/720/480"

What CPU is being emulated? The Mac Plus' 68000@8 MHz? 68020, 30, 40? I imagine anything higher than 68000 should be very very slow, since as I recall, Basilisk's CPU Cores are fully C, not ASM. Since this ported over to the GP2x without the CPUs being replaced, they must be C. So, the system truly running as fast as a Quadra 950 is extremely hard to believe.

Whether I use the win command in the preferences of not, its still not 1:1 scale on my GP2X Screen, is the emulator able to convince the virtual mac to display at 320 x 240, or will it always be rescaled?

It's certainly impressive, just tricky to read text.

Faster than a Quadra is on 1GHz Celeron PC not GP2X. I meant that you can install the system on a PC and then use the hard disk (.hfv file on the GP2X which runs a mere 2x faster than mac II). Since its much easier to install on PC than on GP2X. You can use your CDrom etc on the PC.
It can emulate 68000 all the way to 68060 (which was never used in any mac) I guess its about as fast as a 20 MHz 68020 but not exactly since cpu and fpu speeds vary.

you're right the emulator may not be able to convince mac to use 320x240. Try to delete the pram file which is written to the /mnt/sd directory. You can also try to change it from the mac monitor control panel - but that usually crashes for me.
If you get it to work at 320x240, the problem will be that somethings dont show up cause they are too big

I've had Basilisk II run at 320x240 before. But looking back on it, I can't fully recall how I did so. I think it was by directly altering its configuration file.

if you use newer system you can use speech in simpletext to read it out.

Speaking of Basilisk2, has anyone tried the Galactic Core demo? GC is a now-
unsupported title from Spiderweb, makers of Avernum, Geneforge, etc. From the
screenshots, GC appears to be a sort of proto-GalCiv. I'm just curious about it. Could someone try to load this in BasiliskII for GP2X, and let us know what you think of the emulator performance and the game itself?

I don't have a GP2X yet, so I can't do this on my own. And I have no affiliation with Spiderweb. Just a fanboy

May not work. It says on the website that it needs powermac.

I remember playing this game on my old PowerPC, and I liked it. Pretty the same thing as GalCiv2, except in simple and fun. GC2 is a gas power plant, Galactic Core has a nice learning curve, in other words, ain't much to learn to play it. Anyways, yeah, it really takes a PPC, so it's not for Basilisk.
