Giz Homebrew Taking Off Fast

Sounds okay. If the giz ever begins to match the 2x in emulation, and if it drops below $100 (used), I may pick one up.

I really want all the power I can handle in one handheld though... switching between my DS and my GP2X is enough as it is.

You have to wonder (and get excited) about the prospects for this machine, if the homebrew scene really does take off...

Well it'll have to be bloody amazing before I part with cash for something called Gizmondo. That's almost as bad as the Muff So Soft brand of feminine hygine products I stumbled across the other day.

In fact when they renamed the Giz from it's working title even Muff So Soft would have been a better choice!

I'm surprised they didn't get Smashey and Nicey to advertise the thing then maybe it would not have gone bust.

"Hey, we've just got time to show you the poptastic new hand held gaming devicearooney from Gizmondo." etc

Homebrew taking off on the gizmondo ,just got quake to work and it runs twice as fast as the gp2x version.
Some Megadrive roms are working too, its early days but things are looking promising :)
Squidge seems to be busy coding some giz stuff lets hope squdge snes comes to the giz.

And of course you had to come by and spam this board and boast  to try to "convert" us all to giz fanboiz.

It will only get so far anyway as they don't even make those anymore and once the batteries wear out you are all done.

Same. But I can't see the Giz ever matching the GP2X in terms of developer support when it's a) not being made anymore and B) limited to approved software only. Maybe I'll pick one up for novelty value.

has he really spammed? Honestly it dosent matter if he did or not. Cash speaks volumes and people who've already bought 2Xs arnt going to rush to the Giz just because it has a few fair emmulators.

It will have to meet and surpass the 2X quickly in price, availibility, support, and community quality before it becomes worth the trouble.

It may be a good price if people are selling theirs on ebay. Availability? That will be good for awhile until all back stock is sold off. Since they are bust, there will be no more units or special batteries made so after awhile the availability will be poor.

Where are the posts about the megadrive emulator?

I only see supaimposter on that forum asking people to port it...

Where is the squidge thread?

Squidge does have a giz and posts alot there now. He will probably port stuff to it until he gets bored of it. A zippy 400 MHz CPU does hold promise for full speed SNES, but you will be playing it on a small GBA sized screen.

Go back to the Giz-on-mo forums, where you came from! *jks :p

As you all would already know, I am a SONY fanboi (have been here for a decent amount of time and hopefully been accepted by some peeps), but I hardly ever give you people the hard word or come onto you in a heavy way.

If it weren't so hideous, didn't have all that stupid crap (camera, GPS), and if it had homebrew from the start, the Gizmondo could have been quite the platform.

S'okay, they can correct all these things with their new widescreen giz! Oh wait... ;)

Squidge doesn't even have a compiler for making things for the Giz, so I don't know where you get that from

I have always hoped that sooner or later I would see an adequate situation that would allow me to say that.

OWNED.

I just checked the link and I was the only person on the forum!
I've been lurking on there for a few days now, and frankly I'm appalled at the level of written English of most of the members. I remember a thread on this board a while ago that suggested people should improve their writing or face the consequences, and I've got a lot more sympathy for that argument after reading much of the dross that's up on gizmondoforums. The level of prose on gp32x.de is positively Wildean by comparison.

I just got a couple of cheap Giz's for tinkering with.

Oh no, does this mean the end, or a long delay of the GP2X Amiga emu? I guess you will get better speed on the giz, but man that really sucks for us :(

oh yeah, and another one switches on the panic mode [ARGH]omfg all the developers are leaving for other systems *looses self confidence and self-esteem*, seriously, if you don't stay I will cry and then commit suicide and drop my gp2x off a bridge[/ARGH]
Nah... just kidding ;-)

I think that this augmented reality feature was really sweet though. Seeing a bunch of videos about it and a demo of that game catapult almost made me cream my pants. That is some crazy shit you can do with a camera and a portable gaming system. If there would have been more games using this technology, I think the giz (lol) could have easily kicked the crap out of other consoles and we would be seeing a whole lot of weird kids wiggling around with their gizmondos and bumping into each other because they were instead staring at their screens... RL would have become interesting for me again hehe...

If that technology would be easily accessible to homebrew devs, that would be sweet.

i know this is a bit off topic but, is there a system that EA does NOT develope for? I'm pretty sure if i put a screen on a turd, they'd develop software for it.
