Tv-out Problem That No-one Else Seems To Have

So I have the gp2x tv-out cable and i'm aware of the crappy connection etc.
When I use it I dont get a black screen like a lot of people have reported (usually due to the bad connection), I get a picture thats scrambled and in black and white.
I live in South Africa so I have to use PAL, which I have chosen in the TV-out options. I have tested the cable on two TVs one with a S-video input and my own (which only has a composite input but I used a S-video to composite converter).
I have checked the wiring of the tv-out cable and all seems to be in order according to the pinout diagram available on the gp2x wiki.
It looks like the gp2x is outputting a signal at the wrong frequency or something.
Is it possibly set to some korean frequency that differs to local or is it because the output has too high a resolution for both TVs?

Im totally at a loss here because no-one else seems to have the same problem in that im getting a picture but its scrambled.

Please help

It might be because you have PAL-I in South Africa, whereas most other countries have PAL-B or PAL-G...

UK and Ireland also use PAL-I, and I've had no problems so far.

You've probably got a dodgy connection somewhere along the line, so the signal doesn't reach the TV properly.

Well Its definately not a PAL / NTSC issue. I tried again on a TV that accepts NTSC (i.e. it has an NTSC mode) and the results are no different which means that the signal thats coming out of the gp2x is not correct. Im using firmware 1.4. But I havent seen anyone else with the same problem using 1.4.

Right well arent I the lucky one, my gp2x seems to be malfunctioning when using the TV-out. Its definately nothing to do with the cable as I tested with my brothers and I get the same result, his GP2x works fine with the same cable. This means there is something like a blown capacitor or something in the TV-out.

:-(

Any Suggestions Evil Dragon? I heard you were good with plucking the little beasties apart and making them whole again.....

Best suggestion would be a warranty repair ;)

I have no schematics or so, so I don't really know what could be the cause of this :/
