What Gaming Franchise Do You Want Them To Stop Making?

Ick, are you both serious?

Sonic CD is a complete and total waste. It has the speed of Sonic 1 and the level design of some kindergardener's drawing skills.

Sonic 2, while the 'hottest selling 16-bit title', still has a bunch of flaws as compared to Sonic 3. Sonic 2 had horribly designed special stages, reminiscent of what Chaotix tried to accomplish later on...

As far as I see it, Sonic 3 improved the formula on speed, bonus stages, and especially Super Sonic and Hyper Sonic (when attatched to Sonic and Knuckles, of course...) It saved your games, gave you the choice of 3 different power ups that did three different things, and had special level sets for Knuckles and Tails already built into the game. It also added a primary boss every time you finished a level. Different endings as you beat it with different characters... There's really no reason that Sonic 3 isn't the pinnacle of the franchise. You could go further and say SA:2, but I don't dig the 3D Sonic games; Sonic was meant to be in 2D as far as I'm concerned.

What would Sonic 4 have looked like? Damn, someone should make it.

I do find Sonic 3 & S&K quite spectacular and the super and hyper characters were amazing when I first unlocked them as a child but I feel Sonic CD was the pinnacle of Sonic.

The Music (jap and euro only, the US soundtrack is appalling and sadly included in Gem Collection) had that funky early 90's feeling which still rings home today.

The speed is fine, its only the spindash I have issues with.

It has fantastic bits of animation in it which should have made it to the Megadrives shores such as the ninja rise and decent and the figure of eight legs.

And to top it all off the level design was detailed and explorative yet still allowed for a bit of speed here and there.

As for Sonic 4, surely you've played the beta? AKA sonic crackers, not comfirmed as the actual sonic 4 but it is a sega production.

sonic 2 is best in my opinion, though SA1 workede excellently as the only good 3d sonic. I enjoyed it more than sonic 3 even.
And yes, I have played Sonic 4.

Not really. There was no such thing as "Sonic 4" in the development pipeline back then, the Sonic Crackers rom is most likely something someone at SEGA came up with and submitted to management. Apparently, they liked the concept, so it was developed into Chaotix.
