Hi,
Just a quick question, sorry if this has been answered before but I've searched around for a while and can't see it.
About to buy a Gp2x in UK. Does anyone have an opinion on if its worth buying the charger from gp2.co.uk. I dont mind *too* much if it takes say 12 hours to charge (overnight charging would be OK). Was just wondering if it was good from the point of view of getting maximum charge and life out of the batteries? Or am I better off paying £30/£40 for an advanced charger...?

Cheers

Now to hunt for a PSU...dont like the one recommended on gp2x wiki from argos - variable voltage - id probably accidently change it like I did with my spectrum all those years back...BANG :(

I don't recommend buying a PSU for the GP2x full stop. It is not a "charger", it is mains power instead of using batteries. And it is positioned in the most inconvenient place on the GP2x (the right buttons!). Use rechargable batteries.

Just use Ansmann 2600NiMH batteries (rechargables), as per the many posts on the forums. You get about 4-5 hours use with a pair, and they can be recharged on any nNiMH compatable recharger (I use a UniROSS recharger - not their batteries, as they suck big time). If you don't have either the batteries or charger, you can buy both from the UK site if you wish.

Thanks for the reply bacteria.
I actually meant the AA battery charger that comes with the Ansmann batteries from gp2x.co.uk for £19.99. I read somewhere that it took ages to charge but wasnt sure if it charged the batteries properly so as to get maximum use out of them (Ive read that this is variable between chargers - some discharge the batteries first which is better, but most dont do this and some only charge the batteries to about 70% I think...)

Sorry for the confusion - probably cos I mentioned the PSU as well at the end of my post. I was also curious about the PSU though - so thanks for your answer - I think I won't bother with a PSU!

I use the Energizer 15 minute recharger with their 2500 Nimh batteries. They were pretty cheap and work really well.

I didn't get any instructions with my charger from gp2x.co.uk, does anyone know how long you should charge the batteries for?

Yeh the charger says on it read instructions - but there are none. It's pretty simple though - when the LED on the charger turns off they're done. Mine take 12 hours...just got my gp2x today and had to wait 12 hours to use it pah :(
