Usb Networking Trouble

Hi,

Having recently de-bricked my GP2X from the oblivion of stripes, I've upgraded it to 2.0.0 and am trying USB networking. I've read other guides on this board taking you through the configuration process - i.e. system menu, enable USB networking, enable telnet server - but whenever I enable usbnet, the GP2X crashes. The serial console shows a kernel Oops when executing 'hostname', and also with 'photoviewer'.

I'm using Linux on the host side of the link. The usb0 interface appears and also shows as configured on the GP2x. Pinging the GP2x, it doesn't respond, and a crash follows shortly after. Are there problems with this kernel (2.4.25, #3390, 2006.04.20) - can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks.

Lex

i've noticed that if you turn on USB HID and Networking at the same time, you can generate tons and tons of ksymoops .. but this is with the 'default' g_ether.o that comes with the FW2.0, whereas I have now 'upgraded' to the newer, bug-free version of g_ether.o mentioned in this thread:

http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showt...7810&hl=g_ether

and this seems to make things a lot more stable when the HID module is loaded as well as all the networking stuff .. try it out, maybe it'll fix your kOops ..
