Not sure if this has been covered before (probally has) though its just something that came up when I was talking to a friend yesterday and mentioned I was finally considering getting a GP2X.
I commented about its neo geo emulation to which he replied 'great!...but whats the point of metal slug without 2 players?'
Now this got me curious, I know that the gp2x usb is slave only however is there no theoretical way to develop hardware and software that would allow for a link up? Something like a seperate power source between the 2 machines or some such.

Obviously its a big undertaking and all that, that's why I've posted it here rather then in the serious discussion part.

2 player will be possible with the breakout box + 2 usb controllers, thats also dependant on the emulator support 2 players and usb pads. Vobbo told me he's planning such support for his pce emu though, so maybe others will follow :)

breakout box?
What is this? Someone has made a power pack?

Umm... No... a breakout box adds the ability to connect your GP2X to things. Generally USB, but could also include a serial and JTAG connection for development.

A BoB will allow you to connect a thumbdrive for storage, a wireless adapter, controllers, etc, but this depends on software support. The only thing ~guarunteed to work is usb storage (w/ firmware 2.0), although only low powered devices will work as the EXT port has a limited amount of juice.

Unless you use a powered USB hub.
