Gp2x Tutorial Videos

Programming video tuts are highly effective, I'll have you know. And just the libraries, that's hardly a masterful feat of guru programming. <_<

Heh heh heh... It is beyond me to make video tutorials on programming (though I do love them so) because - I'm not a GP2X programmer! Even if I code stuff, I won't be. It's not my talent, and my signature probably makes that evident. I get by on smarts but that doesn't mean I'm any good at it.

So, a Neo Geo setup video is definitely IN.

TV-Out setup - as I have those cables and only need an extension, is definitely IN.

DrMD setup is, of course, IN.

General introductory video (here is your microphone port, here is your case, here is your thumbstick and here is your base, which belongs to us).

How about one showing the two different methods of hooking up the new GP2X interface board? According to the manual there's one method for first/second batch GP2Xs and one for third batch. Also, the cables must be hooked in in a particular order... could be confusing for some.

A tutorial on LCD tweaker settings? How about showing how to use the program to overclock the processor for emulators, it could go on to explain how to run the autorun script for individual programs. Scripts scare people - you could show them it's actually an easy thing to set up.

I would love something like this. Not for the really easy stuff C/C++, but for just making a simple SDL game on the GP2X.

I can dream can't I?

It would be pretty boring unless it was a REALLY simple game that can be programmed in an hour or so. Maybe a video to setup an Development environment instead would be more useful?

Yeah well I meant a REALLY simple game.
Sometimes I am far too lazy to read 12 or so chapters of a website, if that was condensed into a video that would be awesome.
hehe. It will never happen I know.

I don't know.. I am tempted to try it because it does sound impossible to pull off right.. :/

Nah, setting up en environment is fairly easy, and there are lots of resources on that. Now, being shown WHICH SDL libs can/can't be used on the 2X with a list of examples, advantages and disadvantages would be heavenly. Not even a game, there are lots of good tutorials on SDL out there. More about SDL to the GP2X relationship.

Though an example SDL 2X games would be really cool.

Well, instead of programming or making videos, I spent my 4 day weekend torturing small children, visiting my folks (and finding out that my father has already worked on the ARM 7 chipset and is currently studying developing applications for PDA's and handhelds, so he spent 40 minutes with me using the GP2X), chasing my lady around, attempting to drown my children (actually the opposite) at a friend's pool, then a lake, then my folks' wading pool, and watching old Samurai flicks when I got breathers from family activities.

I do still have Brandon's digital camera that can take 13 minute long movies in a single shooting, but it seems that once a couple has more than two children, all they can be counted on is to show up to their paying jobs. Mind you, my Latin lady makes the home.

Shows I want to do:
  • Welcome to the GP2X
  • NEO GEO setup
  • Genesis Setup
Given that Brandon will be desiring his camera, I'll see what I can do. I had a longer list but getting something done is better than nothing at all.
