What to get?

depends on how you want to use it...
if you are a pure gamer, maybe you should choose the gba.
If you are interested in Emulation, and like old games then choose the gp32.
I would take the gp32 (flu) ^^

GBA w/ Flash-Linker - Use very illegal roms on it (current commerical games), only GB/GBA and NES games can run well.

GP32 - Run only slightly illegal roms on it (old games), works well with NES, PCE, SMS/GG, Gameboy Colour, and decently with SNES. Most GBA games are remakes of SNES games anyway.

But if you don't like 8-bit games, then I wouldn't invest in the GP32 for emulation right now. The future of the GP32 does look bright, I still expect a new SNES emulator by the end of the year.

i was going to get a gba with flash cart.....
so glad a mate of mine told me about the gp32.....
i don't only use it for game's....(i have commercal agme's as well as homebrew and rom's).....i like the fact that i can play mp3's and avi file's on it as well....
saying all that....it's your choice.....i'm happy with mine!!!!

a fully portable emulated SNES is a lot better than a GBA. Just look at all the RPGs that will probably never be released for the GBA, such as Chrono Trigger etc. If its true and we do see a fully working snes emu by the end of the year, we will immediately get all the Donkey Kong games, which will probably be slowly trundled out by Nintendo on the GBA.
Its all ifs at the moment though as we dont really know if we will ever see a 100% working SNES emu on our GP32s.

GP32!!! Don't get a gba w/ flash linker! The GP32 is way better for emulation. The GBA hasn't even gotten a snes emulator! Plus we can watch divx movies. The GBA also uses flash carts in megabits, which means that to get the same amount of space that a normal 128 mb SMC can hold (the gp32 uses SMCs, a 128 mb is around $45) you would have to buy a 1GB flash cart, which cost a butt load of $

Actually, I find that donkey kong games work extremely well already, especially on overclocked snes emulators. And i can only OC to 156 MHz
Yeah i was about to say. But the rom i used doesnt work on snes9x, only on snesemu (it brings up a message sayin it cant be played on any hardware thats used to copy games). Have you seen the gba version compared to the snes version? The gba version looks like a big turd compared to the origional.

Yeah i suppose its ok at the moment, but i hate not having it full screen and with sound.

It worked fine for me on SNES9xGP.

i had the same problem with Donkey Kong 1. It stated that the game could not be played on any device that would enable the game to be copied. The other two DKs work fine though.

I had have a gba and was priceing a flashlinker and cartridge when I saw the gp32 on liksangs site. After looking into the gp32 I bought one and have never looked back.
I work long and boring night shifts and when I go to work I take with me 1hr of video (gpcinema) a book(lazy reader) and about 20 video games(pcengine and snes9x).Oh and ultimate doom.
Wheres the comparisson? for the same money I could have bought a flashlinker and a 256mega bit cartridge! (what the fcuk is a mega bit?) ( a mega bit is 1/8 of a megabyte so 256 mbit=32mbyte).
There is no comparisson. However if I had one bad thing to say about the gp32 it would be , be very carefull of wiping /cleaning the screen as the antiglare coating is damaged very easily.Beleive me I know!
If I had to have two it would be that some gp32 apps seem to have brightness/contrast problems however thes need not be permanent and may/will be sorted in future releases of the software.
Gba games are better than snes games especially emulated snes games but look at the availabillity! snes wins every time and snes emu is just one small part of gp32!
