bittorrent and some others don't count because your unsername/ip are not visible to the uploaders
even people who use bit torrent have been caught downloading films. but i agree that it is one of the safest to use

true, I guess they could hack the client and find out. but the beauty is that you're only ever uploading the same file you're downloading. i.e. no one can see your stash of "big heffer's" series of divx files

Hmm use DC++ too was wondering whether anyone got in trounble on that, mind you have a little protection from peer guardian.

Get Peerguardian, Sygate Pro Firewall and Kazaa Lite... Kazaa Lite has a Built in IP Blocker, Peerguardian is a IP Blocker, Sygate can have the IP's programmed into it so you will have 3 IP Blockers :D... Make sure you update the IP Ranges each day thats the only thing... Oh yea also download Adaware and Spybot search and destroy and run them 3 times a weak or each day... :D

basically my isp forwarded the email they recieved from the RIAA and simply wrote "please cease and desist in accordance with our AUP". Which was very useful as attached was a text file log of the offending shared files I was 'hosting' - a few crap hollywood films and an mp3 album! (I mostly just download anime)

I've been using peerguardian since (after swotting up on 'safe' p2p usage) but it does sometimes hog the cputime and slow everything down - anyone else get this?

Right. This is how I see things:
The most your ISP are gonna do is send you a warning. If you take adequte steps (not kazaa etc) you are gonna be hard to spot and your ISP dont really give a crap what you do as long as they arent contacted by someone like the RIAA. I know plenty of people iwho download using P2P I download the most out of these people; I do take the most safeguards though. Im not worries about being caught either, if I get a letter I will change to a safer protocol.

Im a little drunk now but it makes sence to me.

Yes. Telekom is evil . Our internet wasn't working on the one day that we actually needed it, but it was a Sunday. We called, and told us that out contract was "basic", so we could only have it fixed on Mon-Fri. My dad asked if we could upgrade, but the person told us, "Not on a Sunday!"
