    Boot From Sd

I'm happy to see from the databook that the caanoo can power up on alarm - which it handy for PIM functions, but I can seem to find any information about how the boot process works from a caanoo perspective. I assume its using uboot? Is it possible to boot (optionally) from SD ? Has anyone...

    Debian On An Sd Card

....or you could spin your own up from the wiki instructions, it takes less time than you'd think and ain’t hard :D ! Stuckie has done a really nice job on documenting his discoveries and laying them out in a clear manner

    Debian On An Sd Card

I'd always assumed that it was because xfce was so slow.... while testing raw input from the touch screen hardware, I noticed no especial difference when either lxde or xfce was running I concluded the lag was entirely down to the (comparative) bloated nature of xfce....

    Debian On An Sd Card

...you might think you're out of memory - but I bet you still have a heap of cache in use...(get it - see what I did there :D ) Having a swap file *significantly* slows the Pandora, it can be painful to watch! Its quite possible to have a terminal and a browser and one or two apps running...

Media Keys And Alarm Buzzer Idea

microcontroller aint expensive! something like a teensy is $16 and well worth it! and far more fun! ;) (besides the keyboard controller *is* a microcontroller!) I also want to implement an alarm buzzer, disable switch and at a later date some other functionality - as I'm able to write software...

    Pulseaudio...

...stable - has reached that stability by virtue of it being established in its role for a good period of time, PA is far from established or particularly stable... And I have still yet to hear a *single* convincing need for another layer in the Pandoras sound subsystem go on give ESD a try...

    Pulseaudio...

...and as for being easier to configure! its sat on top of alsa - so you still have to ensure that alsa is configured and more tightly that normal and *then* you have to configure pulse audio - something that many people have found rather a task... ...and in any case I have yet to see a single...

bit puzzled by step two isn't that chicken before the egg ? where did you get prezip from... PND is a new system - so there are no "experts" and incidentally if you find someone who calls themselves an IT expert - run a mile there's no such thing (the field is way to wide to know it all...)

    Command Line Gui For Newbies

buy an ixxxx then... yer choice is - have a system that you can make work the way you want to.... or if you don't want the effort get something like an itouch where you get little choice - but you need very little effort, don't like simplified products? don't like products that decide how you...

    Pulseaudio...

pulse audio! memory is tight and I like the fairly low latency of sound on the pandora as is, introducing pulse is *guaranteed* to make memory tighter and it *will* increase latency, and depending how well (or not) written the alsa driver is, it could make the whole shooting match a lot less...

    Command Line Gui For Newbies

...the easier it is) Its really very easy to use a terminal, in fact you could argue using a gui is harder you can only start an application *without* parameters and worse still you can't chain the output to the input of the next program and then the output of that to the next input and so...

    Pulseaudio...

gods no - what a terrible thing to do to an embedded platform, add latency and use buckets of precious memory - for very little or no gain. I cannot think of a piece of software that can't use something else other than pulse so why bother? besides what more do you need than milky tracker (j/k)...

    Pandora Not Enumerating Usb2.0 Device

I'm not that interested in the actual speed just some mode that would directly work with the Pandora's USB port just about any usb2.0 hub I've used on the Pandora (well ok 3!) has worked fine, and just about any device connected to the hub is then recognised by the Pandora. I assume what is...

    Pandora Not Enumerating Usb2.0 Device

Well. Duh. fortunately I managed to find a cheap one without LED that I could strip down small enough to fit in my project... It would be nice to find a usb2 embedded controller that could revert to hi-speed mode though an extra chip in projects is extra mA's...

Media Keys And Alarm Buzzer Idea

...HID examples that are easy to get to grips with, as ever avr make nice chips! so now the not so happy news - getting it working with the Pandora’s *ridiculously* picky usb host was a no go.... although its a full speed USB 2.0 device it won't revert to hi-speed (sadly) so I went of to my...

yeah i went through this torture myself a while ago... (should have made notes!) usefully prezip is missing from the OE package so I had to compile the tools... I ended up uninstalling aspell and compiling it from source (that gives you prezip) ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/aspell/aspell-0.60.6.tar.gz...
