I'm 450ish in Craig's queue (assumption on which queue). Just got my email this morning (GMT-5). Looking forward to getting it, mostly as a novelty at this point, but should be fun in any event. The ribbing I'll get from my friends with lines like "oh, that's the computer you ordered back blah...
According to all the info I can find, phones that can run Android 2.2 will be able to use the new "app" that it has to make the phone a WiFi hotspot. This should work fine with the Pandora (at least I'm hoping my Droid will work when the update makes it out... and I get my Pandora).
I understand the desire to pull out. If I gave one shiny rat's arse about $300 I would have done so a long time ago. Many, many moons ago this became an example of the old adage, "never loan more money than you are willing to lose". When (I am still assuming this isn't an "if") I get my pandora...
As to playing H264 video...
A AMD X2 3500+ won't keep up with playing 720p with a good quality bitrate. Now, that same machine will play 1080p video smoothly if you have a video card with CUDA support and a playback codec that will use it (something like the CoreAVC). FFMpeg won't keep up if...
Basically this all boils down to "no-one has a firm grip on when anything will actually complete" which carries on to a situation where everything is blocking on everything else. Do I think actual devices will ship to actual greedy paws eventually? Yes. Do I think all evidence to date points at...
Your experimental results are quite in line with just about everything you read concerning flash storage... never, ever put swap on it :)
Of course, in my case since the SDHC cards I buy will be used probably better than 95% for read, and that largely contiguous low-rate (moves, etc) I'll be...
Heh, you beat me to the punch by about 20 minutes.
Tom's Hardware has many great reviews on just about any computer related stuff you could think of. Their frequently updated reviews for the best video cards for the money are invaluable.

And of course, since we all like options...
Newegg has the same card (no tax, free shipping) for $27.99.

Now, if you are local to Chicago, there is often value from getting it "local" so keep that in mind.

Got my refund yesterday (US).
And for "Hitnrun" above, the difference in price is just the change in exchange rates. I paid $390+ and got back $320+. Hopefully the reorder page hits soon so that I don't get bitten when/if they go back up.

Honestly, for me, it is all about portability. If it is easier to slip into my pocket (which I imagine the newer design would be), then I am all about the curves.
My 2 cents.

I read a lot. Usually 50+ books each year. I've had a Sony eReader for almost 2 years now and I tell anyone who asks that it is, without question, the most useful electronic device I've ever purchased. It made it so easy for me to take lots of books and comics with me, nearly everywhere I go...
Right now on Newegg, I could buy five 16gig SDHC for the price of one 32gig SDHC. I would be willing to wager a fair amount of dough that that price disparity will not become negligible until well after I get my Pandora... regardless of the delays in delivery :)
I'll be grabbing a couple 16gigs...
Foot massages? Seriously though, even if a lot of the classic emulation stuff would be smooth as glass in 128M, the "use it like a portable computer" stuff should be seriously enhanced. Can't wait.
