At least the name got a massive upgrade.

    A date with the Pyra

I liken the Android requests on the Pyra to a child begging for his/her treat while the parent struggles to fulfill a basic task. "Daddy, Daddy! Can I have this Lollipop Daddy?" "Groceries first, kiddo." Right after this delicious golden Arch sandwich...

    Reflect the LEDs!

Right, there's direction and diffusion. Diffusion is what the keymat should do to provide a 'base' illumination. Then these other layers provide direction to escaping light (a lot of light starts out the wrong direction). Shouldn't need more engineering than that.

    Total madness!

Take it all... I didn't contribute anyway. :P

    Improving the keyboard background light

As ED effectively said - and I agree - bleed is inevitable. I've got two backlit keyboards right now, one SteelSeries built into my MSI GT780DX and one CM Storm. Neither design even tries to hide the surrounding light. I haven't ever seen a design that hides it either. Cue the person with a...

    Improving the keyboard background light

It's possible but would have to be extremely expensive, and I can't imagine many if any manufacturers could even do it. Just having an index of refraction > 1 doesn't produce a lens effect, the material itself has to be shaped in a particular way. Just do some Googling for physics of lenses and...

    Improving the keyboard background light

Fiber optic cables work by having very specific indices of refraction on the core and cladding to keep the light inside the cable (see: total internal reflection). The sharp bend causes light to escape only because when light hits the inside from a 90° angle (or an angle beyond a calculable...

    Improving the keyboard background light

The top layer being black should make a big difference. Any light that escapes from behind the keymat and tries to bounce around that layer gets basically nowhere between the black of the keymat and the back of the case. Remove the black layer, and you now have more reflection from the top and...

    Ram Poll.

... and what was wrong with my example? I used a third-party calculator to verify the ballpark. Not practical then? I suppose if you're not an audio guy. I do recall someone using the Pandora for mixing or dj'ing. Not going to dig up the thread. And by the way, my reasoning is not fear-driven...

Sega Saturn more powerful than the psx?

Hard to believe this requires an explanation, but the whole point of a forum is to discuss subjects openly. Who cares if it's documented or discussed elsewhere. Your choice to read the thread or engage. I guess we could just refactor the Internet into a redundancy-free collection of wikis...

    Ram Poll.

Great points. Yes, I do think the Pyra would be more than capable of handling the Audacity tasks I mentioned given my limited layman's knowledge. Applying effects to the waveforms took about a minute apiece on the Pandora; I would guess the Pyra will accomplish similar performance on higher...

    Ram Poll.

Right, I'm operating under my assumption that the battery life won't be noticeable. I don't use suspend, so I suppose I am biased in that respect. To me the loss of a few days is ok, but if that's a big deal people can argue that side of it.

    Ram Poll.

As I already mentioned it's pretty trivial with Audacity. A couple basic tests on my 1GHz 512MB Pandora eats up all the available memory. I recorded a 4 minute sample at the default 44.1 kHz and 24 bit PCM, mono channel. That eats up 31 MB just for the data plus any metadata Audacity stores...

I'd be shocked if that bridge had been rebuilt. Good on them though, hopefully they'll take the lessons from this experience and adapt.

They could also hire on Craigix as a marketing and finance consultant.

The exclusion of Internet also seems to close a lot more doors than it opens. In return for their policy enforcement (impractical as that probably is), they're closing off game updates, online multiplayer, and Steam or any vendor like it. I mean they don't have to support any of these actively...

Well it's the only OS I've gotten to run in an acceptable way without making machine configuration a part-time job. ;)

I think they mean well enough, blaming the head guy because he's more of a marketer seems more honesty than some kind of tactic to me. Lack of professionalism still apparent in their delivery, no doubt. Totally agree that they're best off cancelling and re-evaluating. It's tough because that...
