    Ram Upgrade In Pandora

100% Agree, I have a zoom1 dev kit here with 128megs! And our 3D SatNav app draws hell of a lot on screen. Draws out to 2k with full terrain, fog lighting and road network. And the OMap3 does it without braking a sweet. I don't know how much ram we are using but I know if it was swapping to the...

From My Basement To You, Fellow Graphicians

On systems with a zbuffer (or similar like PVR) I've never seen z sorting to give any speed up. I've been told by many IHV's that doing this will speed it up and in theory this is correct. But I've never seen it work, and I've tried it out on a few games I've worked on. I have seen it slow stuff...

    Getting Started With Opengl

What have you done with 3D before? If you're new to 3D irrespective of the API then there is a lot to learn. If this is the case may be better to start with a PC based 3rd party 3D engine and learn how to get stuff to work in a game. I hear that Torque is a good one and well supported. If...

    Pandora Building Pandora Distro

Ok, thinking about it, I did "git clone git://git.openembedded.net/openembedded.git org.openembedded.stable " as per the instructions on Ångström. Has the pandora stuff in the stable build??? If not which repository / branch should have I got? P.s. I'm a noob at this 'git' stuff and...

    Pandora Building Pandora Distro

    Pandora Building Pandora Distro

I'm calling it the 'pandora distro' because as far as I can work out (i'm not 100% on how it all works) it's the Angstrom kernel with the Matchbox UI and changed to work on the Pandora, correct??? Anyway, following the wiki docs I've grabbed the source, but the next line in the wiki does not...

    Hi. :) ......

Yer they know, it was them who told me why my frame rate had halved. What I had made the mistake of thinking was if my shader had an uniform to enable / disable discard that it would not effect things whilst the 'if' was false. But as it turns out this is not true, just having discard in the...

    Hi. :) ......

Yes, that's it in a nut shell. Apart from that little gotcha the chip is very powerful.

    Hi. :) ......

Yes I normally do a set of shaders aimed at the jobs I need but after playing with differed lighting on the PC I'm starting to like uber shaders. ;) The problem I've found with GLES 2.0 shaders is that you can not share uniforms between shaders as you can with DX so when you change shaders you...

    Hi. :) ......

Thanks. :) It's not a 'bug' but just the way it has to work because of them doing the Z buffer before the pixel shader. I'm sure it can be corrected with a gl extension to allow manual manipulation of the loop back circuit. But yes, to me too it's a bug. ;)

    Hi. :) ......

Hi, a few years ago I played about with gp2x and had a lot of fun but then sold it all when work got heavy and had no time. Now for the last year or so I've been working with OMap chips and other ImgTech based SOC's and I just thought i'll pop by and give a warning about the discard function in...

So When Are We Getting Carmageddon On The Gp?!?!

Sorry, not going to happen unless SCi release the IP. How do I know, well I worked with the Stainless guys for a few years, sadly I joined just after Carma2 and they made the mistake of not wanting to do the third. Saying that, Carma on GP2X is not as a remote idea you may think. A couple of...

    Gp2x-gpe Version 1.0 Released

This is cool, I need to try it with a ext2 formatted sd, its painfully slow loading at the mo. Looks very nice!

    Gp2x-gpe

I've not tried this, will do in a sec. But I dout its loading 120 megs seing we only have 64 at the most. (excluding sram). I would have though mapping the file to memory then using it from there would help. I have no idea what the app is doing as far as loading so its prob wrong of me to...

    GP2X Create Fw 2.0 Kernel / Modules

Sorry, dumb question, how do I do this? So, in short, the offical SDK can't be used to code drivers for the 'open source' machine. If I could i'll give them a slap on the back of the head, BAD GPH!!! I want to make a module that can be used by others, for this i'll need to get the...
