Had to share these images that have been doing the rounds in the last day. Australia is having some wicked heatwaves at the moment, and the usually shy koala population is out to get a drink wherever it can.

This one sought shelter from the heat on a family's verandah. They filled a bucket with water, hilarity ensued.

And some new ones that appeared today. Some cyclists spotted a parched little critter on the road, and in true Aussie spirit, decided to share a coldie.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaww.

Awww, I'll fire up the grill.

Second photo is my favourite, though the last one comes very close. Thanks for sharing these Gruso!

That's stunning - koalas rarely drink water directly. The heatwave is roasting the gum leaves! (How much more can a koala bear? *flees*)

Oh, you really don't - they're cute, cuddly, vicious grumpy little buggers :)

Wow, lovely photos!

We have a Wallaby in a park down this way - ex girlfriend and I used to feed him biscuits! He was very fond of custard creams actually.
