Pretty much every game for the Neo Geo is excellent. Except for Ninja Combat. I hate that game with a passion.

I have to agree; pretty much every game released for the Neo-Geo was at the absolute top of it's genre at the time, both in terms of graphics, animation, and gameplay.

hehe, cool, we're now talking about the worst games :)

personnaly, I hated very much Eight-man, a real joke for a beat-them-up game..

But, perhaps we'll have to create another topic for the worst games ;)

Did any body here actually own a neo geo? They were the dream console, I never knew any one who had one. Most neo geo I played when it was current, was at nickel palace(arcade). Everyone dreamed of the neo geo, but it was incredibly expensive for the time.

i owned a neogeo from 92 onwards had 7 games for it yes it was expensive (cost me over 670 pounds with three games) but it was total bliss at the time nothing compared to it,until the playstation came out and even it didnt have the charm of the neogeo games i owned were magician lord nam 1975 ghost pilots aso2 samurai showdown king of fighters95 and world heroes i was lucky because my friend owned an arcade in glasgow and had the aes at home so got a go of games i could never have possibly dreamed of pulstar and blazing star just blew me away for the time.

^ Magician Lord is one of those NeoGeo titles that I hadn't heard of until recently. What's it like?

It is one of the hardest arcade platformers you can hope to play, very difficult but at the same time you always think i could have avoided that managed too complete it only once takes alot of skill(and a bit of luck)try it on emulation but its not the same as owning the original hardware, this console has a manufacturers date of feb 90 how come new hardware doesnt last this long?.

Sounds like my sort of thing - I'll have to try to track it down. I wonder if it's on the Virtual Console service? I never can remember the complete NeoGeo list on there... :p

yep, my worst error was to sell my neo-geo.. :(

but i rarely played at home in fact, because my brother wasn't a big snk fan, more a capcom one.. so i played mostly in bars with arcade mvs and at friends' houses, on aes/neo-geo cd (i hate this system, but i do love the pad)..

I'll surely buy another japanese aes if i found one, or a consolized mvs when I'll have the time..

yeah my friend had two of those the loading times were dire and the cd drive burned out after about a year(cheaper games though).

It is on vc but the sound emulation aint so hot if you dont have a aes try kawaks or nebula emu way smoother than mame and perfect sound. :D

Great! Thanks for the info. I can't use Kawaks (and I don't know about Nebula), as it's Microsoft Windows-only, and I don't use that.

I should probably mention why I asked if it was on the Virtual Console, really: I only emulate stuff I own. I'd more likely be playing it on my Pandora once I bought it! I think that's the way to go.

ehhhhhhhh,

Contra was much more brutal, to an unenjoyable level, metal slug was a quite good sweet spot in the middle of rapeishly hard and playable.

When I was in Aruba years ago, my hotel's casino had a metal slug machine. Me and my best friend got through it by kicking it as hard as we could

every time we died. It would register 2 credits every time we kicked it. Needless to say we had so much PS1 Metal Slug X exp that we only

had to kick it maybe 3 or 4 times. good fucking times and good casinos too.

I've recently developed a love for Power Instinct Matrimelee. It's an awesome fight game!

Hah, I was just about to swing in here and suggest Matrimelee. Ridiculous fun and a nice change of pace from the more serious fighters that permeate the platform.
