Brogue is a rather shiny roguelike.

Keymap includes the Pandora gamepad buttons as follows:

A: autoexplore

X: enter (gives you a cursor)

B: escape

Y: inventory

Get it on the repo

Runs great on my original-model pandora. Won't have my 1ghz till tonight :)

Thanks for this version of Rogue, never played it before, but its a lot of fun. I got gassed and acid ate my flesh. Good times!

Wow this is really a great roguelke, especially for newbies to the genre since it keeps the number of commands and menus to a minimum, yet allows for powerful and complex "skills" by enchanting items.

For example you find a wand of beckoning, which teleports monsters next to you, and you stand next to a lava pit :)

If you are curious, the game was covered in two episodes of roguelikeradio.

A torch fell on mossy floor setting it on fire and cornered me. My staff of blinking could not bring me across the flames to safety. :(

Very very cool game !! I'm just burning alive but with a smile on my face !! ^_^

I keep autoexploring and breezing along until DLVL 4 and whenever I run into a pack of jackals they make short work of me. Need some way to do distance damage to them I think. z

I'm working on a new version based on 1.7 with bigger font size. I had an issue with my build box but I should hopefully have a pnd out in the next hour or two :)

Just uploaded a new PND: http://repo.openpand...tail&app=brogue

  • moved from Brogue 1.6.x to Brogue 1.7
  • explore delay is a *bit* shorter... also keep in mind you can ctrl+explore for almost no delay.
  • now includes a readme via an <info> tag in the pxml
  • improved display
    bigger font size
  • rows/columns match the pandora's screen size

Is there a chance you could attach/upload the changed source and fonts? I would like to have fullscreen 800x480 on N900 as well.

Managed to build your 1.7 branch and apply your screen size changes to 1.6.4. Nice job.

-git source is missing the makefile (I used makefile from 1.6.4)

-cannot input any keycommands (n900) on either build - any idea what's broken?

Dunno what you're talking about re: Makefile. It's very clearly right there: https://github.com/l...master/Makefile

As for keyboard commands: I'm pretty sure it just uses normal SDL or whatever input via libtcod. I have no idea how the n900 could mess that up :)

Thanks for the quick response to my comment in the repo. If you ever make an update, then you could consider to mention the ABXY-keys in the documentation. That change is not worth the effort of a release on it's own. A link in the repo to this thread might be of interest as well.

I somehow missed seeing a makefile in the zipped download.

The keyboard commands not working was due to a bug in maemo's SDL_WM_SetIcon which causes the SDL window to lose focus. Commenting-out that line fixed it. Thanks for the resized modifications! It is MUCHmmore playable with increased font size.
