Can You Turn On The Blu Light With Old Firmware?

Can you toggle the BLU's light while inside a program or just at the initial firmware?

If you flash your firmware to something old (say, Pacrom) can you still toggle the BLU's light?

If not, custom firmware may need updating.

drumaster who has a blu says me that yes (he flashs his gp blu with multifw 4.8b, so there are no links between the blu and the bios)

Yes. I have a BLU that I flashed to Mr Spiv's Multi FW2. It turns off and on by holding select for 3 or 4 seconds, hardware driven I would think.

I flashed GPbios to mine as almost the first thing I did and the backlight still switches off or on by holding down select for 5 seconds.

You can do this at ANY time while you are using ANY program. I thought it would cause a problem with the Snes emulator's menu but it doesn't. You need to hold select down for too long for it to be a problem.

Why do you use Mr spiv's not aquafish's latest??

If you play Earthworm Jim 1 using Fgen there is a problem as A on fgen is select.
So if you are selected on the normal controls and use the machine gun for too long the light will swich off.

Why didn't they use the start button instead? Start you just push if you need to pause... it should be great for genesis emulation

that seems to be a problem holding the select button too long during games... that would piss me off :D hehe...

I think they should just use a good old button on the back
