Creating Your Own Powered Usb Port

With that guide, you should be able to hook a 9V battery up to your USB port and provide power for the attached devices. This would work best if you hooked the simple circuit up internally so that anything plugged into your GP32 can get power - this is useful for running USB devices in Linux.

I go there everyday, and hackaday has been moving away from real " hardware hacks "
But I liked the part on OC'ing you calculator and the Microwave cannons they had on there
and hacking a Coke machine
 
Now all we need is for someone to create a docking cradle which holds:

1) GP32
2) 9v battery - or D-size battery mod for overall more power
3) Chatboard
4) Bluetooth unit (see toyz 4 boyz)
5) USB thumb trackball

Unplayable, but insanely cool...

Must say, I like the idea of creating a powered USB port... though I think I might do it a slightly different way considering our device - i.e. make a box that held a 9v battery or a couple of 1.5v batteries or whatever with an in and an out... you put a cable from the GP32 to the box unpowered, and then plug the device into the box which has miraculously added the power of whatever source you're using to the other terminals...

However, I dun think I'll ever make one
