i saw die hard 4 today and thought it was a great movie, although

(SPOILERS NOW)

i thought it was a bit boring for the first 30 minutes and reminded me too much of the willis movie 16 Blocks (where he had to escort a "prisoner" from the police station to courthouse) dh4 spent too much time doing similar and it just seemed like the story was copied...

it picked up half way through IMO but i dont remember anything memorable (like dh1/dh2/dh3) i think the best bit was probably when he said 'yippee kay aye' and shot himself , and of course kevin smith was pretty good playing a non silent bob character (although they did mention starwars).

I thought it was too predictable. As soon as you saw his daughters reaction to him at the start you knew she was going to get kidnapped and he would rescue her and she would like him again.

I didnt think the characters were all that good.
I thought the aeroplane bit was totally stupid. As if a pilot would take all them risks and cause that much damage in his own country.

When he said Yipekiya it felt like I had watched the whole movie just to hear that line

I feel like I should note that Tycho also said in the newspost for that comic that he enjoyed the movie, and so did I. Anything to do with computers in the movie made me want to smack the shit out of everyone involved, but nobody ever gets that right in movies. The "John McClane wreckin shit" parts of the movie more than made up for it, and the acting and writing was at least better than Transformers (the other summer blockbuster which people inexplicably like). This movie wasn't as good as the first two Die Hards, but was at least as good as the third and was better than I was expecting.

I would still like to take a baseball bat to Justin Long's kneecaps, though. I can't stand that guy.

I dunno, I really liked the contrast between the nerdy guy and Mclane's savagery, haha like right after he rescues the computer hacker from the assassins and when he takes out the heli with the car. It was an entertaining movie, thats better than a lot of movies can do for me

I've never actually seen a Die Hard film from start to finish. I saw a bit of one of the films where there was a plane involved but found it incredibly boring. Don't intend to watch this either

People are saying to wait for the Unrated / Directors Cut DVD before watching this one... Apparently it was cut / edited / dubbed over to make it a PG13 film or what ever its called.

Well, I watched it. For a "no brains required" action movie it was ok, but otherwise it was complete kack and far too unrealistic. I know some movies push the boundaries a little, but this was just ridiculous. I just wanted to switch off and watch adverts instead.

It was a terrific action flick and perfect addition to the Die Hard series. Sure, the technical jargon was mostly BS, but that is pretty typical hollywood right there. I liked it a good bit more than 3, honestly. Having watched it on and off the big screen, I can vouch you shouldn't wait for the DVD, just watch it later; it's an entirely different experience at a real theater.

it was a good action movie and much better then die hard 3 but all the hacking and stuff was so FAKE. I mean you can't just get into a encrypted firewalled network and stuff like that under 10 seconds and all the dumb hacking justin did... lol also i want to know wat linux flavor justin was using on hs 5 million dollar pc

Slightly off topic, what made me laugh in older hacking movies is where someone is trying thousands of passwords a second over a dial up connection when I severly doubt the bandwidth of dial up could handle that lol, of course there are other things wrong with that scenario aswell.

I don't mind movies that are far fetched and unrealistic, but if your going to do something which a lot of people know a bit about, at least make it enough that it could possibly be done in real life, and leave them with that doubt. I think pretty much everyone knows that hacking into the traffic light system, phone networks, power stations and government security buildings using wifi from a mobile vehicle is just taking "far fetched" to a whole new level...

Yeah I agree, also most sites have a 3 fail attempt and you gotta wait 30 mins before trying again. But that would make a boring movie.

The other thing that makes me laugh is when the so called hacker announces "It's a Unix system" and suddenly there is a GUI but the hacker is going hell to leather on the keyboard, as if they can use keyboard shortcuts on windows that haven't even opened up yet  .

Lol, and movies where they open up something like a normal application and start randomly typing on the keyboard super fast, clarly just gibberish, stating that they are "rewriting the machine code" or something to that effect when its a paint app or a windows desktop on the screen  .
