I have Dosbox installed, but I want to modify the config file to automatically let a mount command run when the application starts. I can do a mount manually, but where can I find the config file?

Also, for some reason I cannot do the c: command. I have a mount, but when I type I can only type c

It appears that in Dosbox, the : does not work. In any other application I can type the : symbol, but not in Dosbox. Does anyone else have this?

Running Zaxxon, HF2

In the appdata folder under one the hidden folders (depending on what your doing): .dosbox or .dbfe

known problem (has anyone tried to remap it in the dosbox keyboard mapper?)
Another option (what i use) is when you use dbfe theres an option when you setup the autoexec to switch to the drive your mounting (its a checkbox)

yes remapping works for me although its a little funky. In fact, as long as we are on the subject, I have to remap the directional keys every time I reload dosbox. Otherwise, only left and up work. So I don't think the key mapper is saving correctly. the easiest thing to do is just add your mount command followed by "c:" to all of your config files.

Does anyone have an example config file I can take a look at?

It would be nice to have a little walkthrough for this application, as it isn't very clear when you install it. Not a lot of information is available for the Pandora version.

you can also make the ':' work by changing the keyboard layout in dos: type in 'keyb gr' for a german keyboard layout (z and y are swiched and : works now)

here you go
Code:

 c:

1. download dosbox pnd and run it so that it will create the appdata dir then exit by typing "exit"
2. unzip your dosbox games under [yoursdcard]/pandora/appdata/dosbox/games make sure each game has its own direcory
3. open filemanager and goto "view" and select "show hidden files"
4. navigate to [yoursdcard]/pandora/appdata/dosbox/.dboxfe and open default.config
5. change the text line in the config file to read "cycles=max"
6. add the following at the end of the config file: "mount c ./games" and then hit enter and add "c:" and hit enter again
7. save default.config
8. overclock your pandora to your liking
9. run backgroundkiller for extra boost
10. run dboxfe from start menu
11. select default profile and click start
12. navigate to your game directory in dosbox with "cd" command
13. type in the game executable
14. enjoy :)

not the only way to get started but it works for me unless you need to mount an iso as a cd drive. in which case I find it easiest to have a profile specifically for the game requiring the image. here's the one I use for fantasmagoria:
Code:
 [sdl]
 fullscreen=true
 fulldouble=false
 fullresolution=original
 windowresolution=original
 output=surface
 autolock=true
 sensitivity=100
 waitonerror=true

 cycledown=20

 nosound=false
 rate=22050
 blocksize=2048
 prebuffer=10

 [midi]
 mpu401=intelligent
 device=default
 config=

 [sblaster]
 sbtype=sb16
 sbbase=220
 irq=7
 dma=1
 hdma=5
 mixer=true
 oplrate=22050

 [gus]
 gus=true
 gusrate=22050
 gusbase=240
 irq1=5
 irq2=5
 dma1=3
 dma2=3
 ultradir=C:\ULTRASND

 [speaker]
 pcspeaker=true
 pcrate=22050
 tandy=auto
 tandyrate=22050
 disney=true

 [joystick]
 joysticktype=auto
 timed=false
 autofire=false
 swap34=false

 serial2=dummy
 serial3=disabled
 serial4=disabled

 [dos]
 xms=true

 umb=true
 keyboardlayout=none

 [ipx]
 ipx=false

 [autoexec]
 mount c ./images
 c:
 imgmount d phcd1.iso -t iso
 d:
as you can probably see, I put my game iso in appdata/dosbox/images
with this setup I just run the exe and I'm good to go. you could also add the exe to the end of the config to have it run automatically but I don't do that right now because I find that I need to remap my keyboard everytime I reset dosbox in order for my directional keys to work plus I like to map left and right mouse clicks to the shoulder buttons. Does anyone know how to get the keyboard mapper to actually save? No, clicking save isn't keeping my settings after a restart of dosbox.

to get to the keyboard mapper you just hit ctrl+f1 which of course is actually fn+ctrl+f1 on the pandora.

in the mapper you can setup : to just about any key and then you don't have to mess with config files but I found that was a pain, if I assigned it to the ">." key, then it would output ".:" when pressed in dosbox. you can work around this but I prefer just changing the config files.

Wow...thank you so very much for this. Got it all up and running great now.

Who's the man?.....You the man....

Just one more quick question. I load dosbox and then do control+fn+f1, but what should happen next? I don't get a key mapper. I need to adjust my keys. Or is there a default config file I can adjust for my keys?

-edit-

Hmm....never mind. I started the front end, selected a profile and then I could do the keymapper thing. Works now.

-edit-

I do have one other question. Can I make the mouse work also?

Jones in the fast lane works wonders, but would be nicer with a mouse.

the touch screen doesn't work as the mouse? It does by default for most games I've tried.

I just tried Jones, the touch screen and the left nub work as mouse for me. The touchscreen is often off in dosbox, to correct it I move the pointer into the corner and bring it back down. That seems to calibrate it somewhat. I also map left and right mouse clicks to the shoulder buttons so it's easier to click things if the touchscreen is off. I'm not sure why you are having problems, :huh: maybe restart your pandora and see what happens?

When I run it fullscreen, there is no mouse. When I run in Windows, the mouse cursor in jones doesn't move. Touchscreen does nothing. Haven't changed anything about the settings.

So mouse just doesn't work. Does a mouse driver need to be loaded in dos perhaps?

-edit-

Just tried Warcraft....mouse works

must be something wrong with my Jones version
