So I brought two 16GB flash drives from amazon.co.uk with the seller being 7dayshop. I used h2testw to test them out, and the results are thus:

Details:0 KByte overwritten (0 sectors)

0 KByte slightly changed (< 8 bit/sector, 0 sectors)

1.9 GByte corrupted (4115744 sectors)

0 KByte aliased memory (0 sectors)

Expected: 0x000000036965c000

Found: 0x0000000000000000

Even if it's not as drastic as the fakes you see on Ebay, having 13.6GB and 13.7GB instead of 15.6GB (16GB, whatever) is kinda offputting... should I return them, or just suck it up? XD

try another filesystem, if youre doing it on ext, try fat

It don't seems to be a fake, just a drive made with the worst possible flash grade...

personaly I wouldn't use a so bad drive... there's quite lot of chance to lose your data...

If the seller was 7dayshop as in this bunch, they're a known-good seller.

I think elwing's analysis is likely to be spot-on, as it seems to be a bit much for formatting overhead.

If you're concerned, you may want to contact the seller, and let them know your concerns.

The two flashsticks are fat32. I don't think I'ver ever used ext, haha.

Yeah, not too keen on it myself.

I guess I'll return them and go for a more better brand, haha.
