How i love wario ware.
It is a passion of mine, the ability to switch on your game boy/Ds and just play for five minuites each time almost garantied to be playing at least one minigame you have rarely played before.
Oh how i sit there with my game boy and just blast through a few before trying to work out how i can emulate that for my upcoming game.
This is why when i saw this game on Ebay i knew i had to try it out.

Neo Poke lives in your Neo Geo Pocket (or gp32 here) hes the one that controls how much fun you have, by going to work and working o minigames that you can play when hes finished.

You don't feed Poke-kun; you don't teach, reward or discipline him (though dropping heavy 'acme' type objects on his head can be enjoyable); if he has to go to the toilet all you can do is watch his agony and pray that he finds the bathroom door. In short, you don't care for Poke-kun in any sense and Poke-kun, for his part, never really acknowledges your existence. Your interaction with him is basically limited to triggering various sight thingies in his room which affect his being in one way or another; either making him sad, or angry, or confusing him, or making him happy. Really, since the sight gags are randomized, the virtual pet sim has more in common with a casino/gambling simulator than other virtual pets like Chaos from Sonic Adventure.

When you press a, you trigger a front door action, and some one will enter, be it a fat Sumo person, or a sexy lady (see above) etc.

EMULATING

There is a few minor problems with playing this game on your gp32 currently.
as the main emulator, and i must say i think its the only, NeoGP32 dosnt support sound there is none. thats that.

the second is that the sprite of Neo Poke is screwed up. on every rom there is on the internet, there is a screwed up sprite. i assume this has something to do with the emulator.
this is not a major problem as all the rest are fine and the game is still fun x 10

MY MARKS

GRAPHICS: All great and well animated apart from Neo Poke being buggy

PLAYABILITY: Amazing when you have the minigames and the virtual pet bit is very playable too gp32_console gp32_console gp32_console gp32_console OUT OF 5

LASTABILITY: Will last a good while as there are about 60 minigames and they dont all come at once gp32_console gp32_console gp32_console OUT OF 5

In my opinion this is one of the best games ever to grace the neo geo pocket, and i highly recommend this to lovers of wario ware, and casual gamers as well.

lets just hope that the sprite issue is fixed in the next GP32 NGP emulator.

Thanks and goodbye.

thanks its my first.

No problem :) . I do agree with you that warioware is brilliant and it's also addictive! I had a go at the new warioware game for the DS in 'GAME' and that was also fun which included a minigame where you had to unroll a toilet roll  (i posted my first review on the 26th of february on James Pond 2)

Does anyone know where to get a copy of ZardozJones neopop emulator for gp32?

Also, does any of the gp32 neo pocket emulators fill up the gp32 screen?

I own the real Japanese cart of Ganbare NeoPoke Kun. Still have the box and instructions in excellent condition too, wonder if it's considered a rare game? It's a VERY cool game, and definitely an obscure precursor to the Warioware series. I love how it looks on my transparent yellow slimline NGPC, just wish the system had a lighted screen.

It's fun messing with the little guy's head, but also hard to understand exactlt what is going on in the game sometimes. I seriously think there were drugs involved in this game's design phase. ;)

in neogp32 by thunderz you can choose the size of the screen, but it dont look good in full screen trust me

can't find it for the life of me... all I could manage to get was the source code, not the .fxe

Its times like this where i wish there was a better emu for this system... NGPC was my favorite handheld ever. I hope to god someone makes another emu for it, if only for cardfighters clash and match of the millenium

@ Nova- great review, made me play the game, although there are graphical glitches in the version I have so its unplayable <_<

Same here, can't beat a quirky Neo Geo game. Nice avatar and review by the way ;)

BTW, you can fully play the game on your PC in NeoPop 0.71 for Windows. I just tried it and the sprites are fine.

We REALLY need a fully developed NGPC emu on GP32. I personally think some NGPC games are some of the best games ever.

you're right Prophet!!
I'm thinking about it since 1 year...

But noone is making a better one :(

yeah a better emu would be perfect... but if I were you I wouldn't hold my breath for that! nobody seems to have planned an active work on this kind of project recently ... saddly!
thus I'm keeping my NGPC & all my games for few little more years ^^

get it here -> http://www.gbax.com/another15.html

and I agree, we really do need a good NGPC Emu. Was Rleyh ever working on one? He seems to have been working on every other system

actually for the most part, I'd be happy With NeoGP32 if it had saves working.

That is ThunderZ's neogp32, not ZardozJones' neopop. If only neogp32 could play cardfighters clash and had working saves... then it would be one of my favorite emu's
