Hi

I would like to get into newsgroups, but I already struggle in finding a good, free newsreader for windows XP. Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Horscht

EDIT: and where can I find newsgroup servers?

I'm quite a fan of newsgroups myself.
Grabit is the most popular free newsreader.
Newsleecher is by-far the best (pay) newsreader.

Are you looking into binary newsgroups?
Cos' if so you will need to get a good premium new server such as newshosting, free binary newservers, are just rubbish.
The only good free binary newserver is Yottanews but even that only has retention (how long articles stay on server) of a day or so.
You can also only download upto a GB a month...

So in all honesty you won't get along well at all with free binary newservers...

yeah, grabbit rocks. As for accessing binary newsgroups, most isps have a newsserver, ntl broadband has a rather good one in fact, although the rentention is fairly low.

Xnews is the only thing I have missed now I'm on Linux it is the best bar none.

Yeah,, just got Grabbit. Looks easy to use, only problem I have is finding a good server. My ISP has one, but there are very few binary groups. I was hoping to find a good free one, but you said there wouldn't be one. Can you recomend me another cheap one?
