Hello

End of Gitlab for many of us.

Any good, free, opensource alternative to GITLAB ?

Most of them are oriented business, like github, and what it happened conquered by Microsoft.

Does that mean I must migrate all the code I've hosted on GitLab to somewhere else?
I always preferred GitLab over GitHub.
That'd be a huge shame.

I don't need all that CI/CD stuff. Just a place to upload my code and maybe a Wiki.

Just integrate your stuff into the Linux kernel and get it upstreamed, then it'll sit in git.kernel.org.

Incidentally I was thinking a decentralised repo might be cool and thought of a Blockchain. Of course I was thinking of one that does not use PoW.

I agree... but doesn't a decentralised repo seem natural for such collaborative open source projects? Maybe the singular repo owner / gatekeeper model isn't the best for ensuring code is quality and not riddled with exploits.

While a decentralised repo could be interesting, there's no reason to use blockchain for this. Git already has everything needed to work in a decentralised way. There could be problems, but Blockchain wouldn't solve any of them.

You're egging me on because you know i'm against blockchains. By decentralized I mean no-owner not global dev team. So like, no single entity can take the code down.
