GnuGo/CGoban issues

Hi, I hope I am posting this in the correct place, didn't want to bump a 5 year old software news thread to ask questions.

I am having trouble with mcobit's (I believe) port of CGoban to work with GnuGo. CGoban itself works perfectly fine, but it doesn't seem to like any of the paths I use to GnuGo for computer play. Using /mnt/utmp/go/bin/gnugo at least doesn't produce errors, but never actually makes any moves. GnuGo also works fine through the terminal. ccGo works fine with GnuGo, and the bot makes moves, but I'm not sure what path it is using, I might be missing something but the entire program has rectangles instead of characters, so I'm having issues using that instead of CGoban, due to difficulty setting board size/handicap/etc.

I have been using the terminal interface to interact with the bot and then inputting the moves into CGoban, but it's getting a little tedious, and I'm not sure what else to try, can any one give me some assistance?
