Yes, the batteries that it comes with are hopeless. As are any non-rechargeables, really. In general, the GP2X will fail in odd ways when the batteries give out. My advice would be: (1) Do NOT attempt to upgrade the firmware with dodgy batteries. (2) Don't pay any attention to its performance with non-rechargeables. Get some decent rechargeables (> 2000mAH), make sure they're charged up fully and then give it a go! (3) You don't really need to upgrade the firmware just yet, in my opinion. (Unless you have a 2GB SD card perhaps).

ya things finally worked
saw my WoW vid i put on there and could access roms (except neogeo still lol)

also the snes is still slow(which i expected)

sonic runs great but earthworm jim not as much which is strange

What you talking about? earthworm jim runs smooth at 60fps Most roms do with drmd.. turn show fps on and tell me how many frames you get? Cuz mines like 57-60 fluctuantly.
