Just thought I'd mention there is a little box in the December 2006 Linux format page 52 headlined 'Whatever happened to?' and in the little writeup it says 'One hopes GP2X can generate enough licensing income'.

I guess they must be mixed up as I thought there are no licensing issues with GP2x? Certainly no costly developers kit.

I couldn't get a good picture but here is what it says:

This plucky little handheld holds a throbbing Linux powerhouse. When launched in 2005, it promised to run pretty much any application you'd like, including music and video players, web servers and games. To date, only Vectar has been released commercially, and though various free and open source games are available, one hopes the GP2X can generate enough licensing income. In September 2006, it announced that its second game, Payback, was nearing release.
