Gp2x Package Manager


Debian packages are standard Unix ar archives that include two gzipped or bzipped tar archives. One holds the control information and the other contains the data.

Read up on the Wikipedia entry today ;)

EDIT: You can extract the contents with Winzip, but you will need to do it twice.

but thats what happens when u use alien+midnightcommander to upgrade

It just swallows debs,rpms,tgz and made me dumb in the process

The biggest down side to using easy update programs IMHO.
A lot of people don't feel the need to know the entire installation process though. As long as the programs work as they should, then it's all good :)

I prefer to install a program manually the first time I try it out to gain the knowledge on howto do it myself, but after that I welcome a program that can take the boring task off my hands. Especially with opensource programs that have a lot of updates & bug fixes :D
