Ok, I went on a search engine to find recipes for Kimchi. Then There was this website with "Kimchi man" on it.. so i stopped at this place... i looked on top of the page and i saw "GP32".. then i researched the actually website and I noticed it was korean.

Is this handheld system sold in the US? how long as it been out?

will it compete with gameboy?

well, its been out over 3 years, its better than GBA, and it emulates a whole lotta stuff
plays Doom, Doom2, Quake, Wolfenstein, and many other PC ports
look around the site, youll see lot more, like Linux!

The best thing about it though is the PC connectivity and open Development for it. Basically meaning you can transfer downloaded apps & games from your PC and play. You can even have a go at running some C programs on it.

Yep. Best handheld yet (open to discussion - i.e. DS/PSP more powerful, but they'll both be extremely closed archetectures - and there are some who prefer the Zodiac).

Emulates, plays vids, lets you read books, has quite a lot of its own games (mostly free, with a few commercial ones), plays MP3s, and generally is the ideal handheld for anyone who is remotely able to use computers.

If you can't however, you might want to be careful before you look into getting one - they're absolutely fabulous bits of kit, but do have quirks when connecting to the PC.

Take a look at the FAQ as well; its remarkably lucid and generally a good read even for some of us seasoned members every so often lol.

Kinda sad when a Korean dosent know a what a GP32 is, but at the same time I guess it goes to show how small a company Gamepark is that it's not a big enough name to be visible in their gaming circles.

But maybe looking for Kimchi receipes makes him more a chef than a gamer?

The GP32 is officially only sold in Korea and since 2004 also in spain, not in US or any other country - this is because gamepark (the company, not the handheld) actually sucks.

but there are ways for foreigners to buy this handheld, for example the great seller www.gbax.com is located in the UK, Lik-Sang and PlayAsia ship all over the world etc.

and the gp32 community comes from all over the world :)

you may also want to check out the biggest korean website for this awesome underground handheld:
http://www.gpzigi.com/

edit: you may also want to know, that the gp32 does not have to compete with the GBA. the GBA is more mainstream, living from commercial games which yu have to buy - the GP32 is a community based handheld, yo dont have to pay for games or applications, and it can do much more than games - for example movies, music (mp3, wma, ogg, mod, wav etc etc), pics, texts, scene demos and friggin much more =)
and it does not cost much - you only have to buy a gp32 + maybe a 128MB SMC card, and with the free tool gpdrive to transfer files you're all set! nearly everything is for free, maybe you're only going to buy the good beat em up game her knights and the RPG (its in korean, but not in english  ) Astonishia Story R, but THATS ALL!

The best thing you can do if you are interested in getting one is research it thoroughly because they are very few emulators that are "perfect" but there are alot that are pretty close.

Doom is simply brilliant and totally perfect alot custom wads available aswell

Scumm is also excellent classic lucasarts games.

things like snes are quite far from being perfect but it is PLAYABLE, however it is simply a matter of time before that is taken care of.
