Dear All,

we are looking for some home coders who have the knowledge to convert there own games to a mobile phone format. There is the possibility of good money for anybody with the knowkedge and ability to produce good handheld game.

You may remember a few months back when we were looking into releasing GP32 games for sale in the UK, an idea we dropped due to the limited user-base of the product. Now we are working towards selling games for mobile phones.

Anyone interested in what could be a great opportunity please email me at michaelpetch@yahoo.co.uk

Many thanks,

Michael

Erm... The GP2X has got a much larger user-base and you might even make profit by selling games for it? ;)
If it's only about porting it wouldn't be so interesting, but creating original games for the GP2X with paid developers (and a precedent query of what kind of games the community would like to see) with an OK price (5-20$/€) and good quality could make you earn some money.

MHO
Thanks ;)

Problem is that its almost impossible to play games on a mobile except for an ngage. I have a Sony K750i and some of the games have amazing graphics, even good 3D ones but only the most simple puzzle games can be played due to the keys etc.

Why has no one bought out small joystick packs that plug into the bottom of mobiles and cover the keypad. They can have a dpad on and a couple of buttons. Much like back in the day the rumble pack I think it was for the gameboy or something that gave a more normal joystick and some speakers. Then you could play loads of games.

Am I the only one here who feels a bit uneasy at someone coming here and trying to turn our excellent homebrew scene into something commercial?

I won't begrudge anyone here a penny for their work, but...

Just feels a little off right...

Just out of interest who are the "we" in "we are looking for some home coders"?

A professional out fit would have started off with.

I represent Muttsoft (or whatever) we specialise in bringing homebrew games to the phone buying masses. Existing titles include blah blah etc.

and as for the yahoo email!

Yeah especially when they want to suck the coders away to do crappy cell phone games, meh. I mean come on everyone and their sister is doing cell phone games nowdays.

It is like "we didn't think enough of your lame Gp32 to do anything for it, now could you guys just abandon it and do stuff for US instead?"

I mean put a goddamn ad in the paper or something ;)

I'm sure there are some devs here that would love to try developing for mobile phones.

But that won't help DaveC sell any more joystick mods.

How dare they use our forums for free advertising.

Yeah lubidog your right, it is unsettling.
One point though, with all the excellent "free" homebrew games and apps, possibly it would take a very special app for the GP2X to make any of us part with our moneys and make the programer any kind of living.
But then again thats probably a good thing, keeping it about great software instead of profit.
